Police are appealing for anyone who can identify a man found collapsed outside a London hospital on Boxing Day.

The man had suffered a heart attack and was put in an induced coma to aid his life-threatening condition.

He was found collapsed outside University College Hospital without identification at around 4.30pm on Boxing Day.

Because of his poor health, doctors are keen to find his family as quickly as possible.
Police describe the man’s appearance as light-skinned black or Asian, and they believe he may be homeless.

[h=1]Mystery man in coma still unidentified three weeks after collapsing outside hospital[/h]
POLICE are still desperately trying to identify a mystery man, who has been lying in a coma for three weeks, so that his family can be brought to his bedside.
PC Harris revealed new details of the police investigation, in the hope it may lead someone to come forward. CCTV has shown the man walking northwards along Tottenham Court Road when he “suddenly collapsed” at around 5.30pm. It is not known if he was making his way to the hospital for treatment or if it was merely a lucky coincidence that medical staff were so close to hand when he fell ill.

He was not carrying any bank cards or ID documents. Fingerprint and DNA samples have been sent to forensics, but have not provided a match with police records. Handwritten notes, found in his pocket, have provided leads, but lack vital details that could solve the case.

A note indicated that the man regularly visited a foodbank and a swimming pool, where he paid concession rates. However, it did not give a name or address for either. His image has been circulated to homeless outreach teams and foodbanks, but has yet to provide an answer.

Police also found evidence that he plays the Lottery regularly, to the tune of around £80 a month. They hope that he may be a familiar face to a shopkeeper, who could help unlock a vital clue. It is believed his clothes were secondhand, having been donated to charity.

Police found a name tag inside a jumper and were able to trace the previous owner, who told them he had “donated them before leaving the country”.

With no ID or bank cards it's possible this man is an illegal immigrant, living in the cash economy and doing casual cash in hand work. If this is the case, then it's very unlikely anyone will come forward to identify him.

Prayers surrounding this man. I hope that the staff at the hospital have adopted him as their own. God Bless him.

Despite officials searching his clothing, nothing confirming his identity was found.

An initial appeal was put out by Metropolitan Police a few days after the man was brought in.
Despite a friend coming forward and revealing his name, no family has yet been tracked down.

Police believe it is possible that the man may be homeless.
Due to his poor state of health, officers wish to track down his next of kin as soon as possible.

A spokesperson said: ‘He remains in an induced coma at University College Hospital.

He looks Indian to me.

If the friend was a casual friend and only able to provide a first name, or if his name is a really common one, it will be very hard to track down his family.

How long does he need to be in a coma?
