He has never been seen again, but the truck was located the following year at a truck stop in Cuba, Missouri. Authorities dusted the vehicle for fingerprints, but found none that were viable. Police stated that the truck had evidently been left at the location prior to the Christmas of 1984, but had not been noticed prior to the discovery in 1985. The Miller-County Autogram-Centinel, 3 Jan 85, pg 1. This article says he required 2 daily insulin shots and had none with him when he left. Given that and <30 miles to Iberia (where he said he was going) it would appear to me that he likely had no intention of being gone very long.

Info regarding his truck at the truckstop and actions taken thereafter, snip from The Miller County Autogram-Sentinel, 28 March 85, pg 1

So, I'm just thinking to myself, he was last seen on December 16 and not reported until December 24 by family (I believe another article said his wife reported him) but required 2 daily insulin shots and reported as having none with him when he left?

Only other thing I am finding in newspaper archives around the time period appear to be some small land transfers in November 1984.

Surely the Wife wasn't involved? Diabetes is a horrible thing. He may have purposefully disappeared to end his suffering? I wonder if there was any Life Insurance involved?
