The body was found in an area of brush about 200 feet from Foresthill Road between Upper and Lower Lake Clementine Roads.

Deputies said the body had been there for a while and had degraded to skeletal remains.

"It is going to take some time to determine exactly how long it's been there, but because of the condition it's in, it's been a considerable amount of time," said Lt. Andrew Scott with the Placer County Sheriff's Office.
Scott said it's unclear how the person died.

"We don't know if it was foul play or if it was natural causes. Obviously, that's going to be one of the things we're investigating," he said.
Additionally, Scott said investigators don't know how old the person was at the time of his or her death.

He said investigators found remnants of clothing near the body, but they were not enough to determine if the person was a man or a woman.
The Placer County pathologist will work to determine the person's identity as well as a cause of death.

Wow, right in my backyard (I'm staying in the westernmost part of El Dorado County rn). Will be following this story mos def.

Vernon Cody Matthews went missing from Pollock Pines. I hope we get some updates soon, at least whether it is a male or female.

The first person that comes to mind for me is Pearl Pinson, but she is from Vallejo, Solano County and Placer is quite a few counties over on the Cali, Nevada border, yes? So, probably not.

Whoever it is, I pray they are identified and brought home to their families.

A few shreds of cloth are about the only potential physical evidence — other than the bones themselves — that investigators are saying they have to go on from the grisly discovery of a skeleton resting near a turnout at the side of a well-traveled road near Auburn.
Lt. Andrew Scott said that the remains were not buried and indicated that the death was not recent. He declined to state whether the skeleton was found intact or if bones were missing.

The coroner’s autopsy and examination would possibly come up with some answers, including an age, whether the deceased was male or female, or even a possible cause.

A grid search for evidence took place Sunday, with volunteers walking shoulder to shoulder for a visual inspection of the turnout area, about six miles northeast of the Foresthill exit in the Auburn State Recreation Area.

Boy that was quick in getting arrest, consider they don't know "who" it is. Only 6 days....

Before I left Auburn for here, my friend & I went up there to sunbath by Lake Clementine.

Can I hear a plea deal in exchange for identifying the remains...?

Yeah, but it's only two hours straight out I-80.

Though I'd think somebody who went missing from the Sacramento area would be more likely. Or somebody from the immediate local area.

I have a feeling they know who it is just waiting on DNA. he have any social media presence? missing gf?
