Lincoln Police have been investigating the disappearance of 35-year-old Phillip D. Madlock since his family reported him missing on July 10, 2017.

Madlock's family reported him missing after they were unable to reach him for two weeks.

On January 29, 2018, Dominic Aguirre, 36, was booked into the Adult Detention Facility for 2nd Degree Murder.

Paul Clark, 35, was lodged for aiding and abetting 2nd Degree Murder.

Aguirre and Clark have been in custody since January 12, 2018, on charges of conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance.

Investigators learned Aguirre and Clark had been searching for Madlock to collect on a debt for illicit narcotics.
Madlock was assaulted at multiple locations in Lincoln. After he was deceased, his body was transported to a location outside of Lancaster County.

Investigators believe Madlock died as Aguirre and Clark moved him around the city, and that the two then dumped his body*somewhere outside Lancaster County, according to the court documents. But police haven't publicly disclosed whether his body has been found.

"The release of further investigative details has the propensity to compromise the integrity of the ongoing investigation," Chief Jeff Bliemeister said in an email to the Journal Star.

An update is expected Wednesday morning.

"The Lincoln Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit is completing interviews, following a digital footprint, analyzing evidence seized in multiple search warrants and collaborating with other law enforcement agencies," Bliemeister said.

Madlock's disappearance was not immediately publicized by police or his family, as sometimes happens in missing persons cases involving suspicious circumstances.

At the time he was reported missing, a sister called his disappearance out of character and said she feared something might be wrong, police said in a Nov. 22 affidavit requesting a search warrant for Madlock's phone records.

In October, police tracked down a former girlfriend, who said Madlock hadn't spoken with her since she kicked him out of her home July 18.

It was unusual for him to sever ties with everyone, the woman said.

Before their falling out, she said, Madlock had told her about several disturbing incidents that started while he was on a trip to the*Dominican Republic over the summer.

There, Madlock said he met a woman and quickly became adamant that he needed to send her money to buy a home, the former girlfriend told police.

He also talked of borrowing $2,000 from "some Crips in California" who he was unable to pay back, she said.

The strange behavior apparently continued when he returned to the U.S. on June 19.

Madlock asked his former girlfriend "if he could stay with her and 'lay low' because some people might be trying to kill him," she told investigators, according to the November search warrant affidavit.

Prosecutors allege Aguirre and Clark killed Madlock on June 28. They have been jailed since Jan. 12 on marijuana charges. Prosecutors on Friday charged 36-year-old Dominic G. Aguirre and 35-year-old Paul A. Clark with second-degree murder. They also were charged with kidnapping, assault and using a firearm to commit a felony.

Police have provided few details about how Madlock died, including whether his body has been found.

Interesting...
Among the questions police haven't answered is whether Madlock's body has been found.
The chief told reporters at a news conference Wednesday morning that a multi-agency team of investigators have searched four homes and multiple vehicles in the case. That included an "extensive" search in rural Saunders County and the examination of a car in Cass County.

Evidence was seized during those searches, and DNA testing is pending further laboratory analysis, Bliemeister said.

Charges expected Friday in alleged 2017 slaying of Phillip Madlock

Police: Lincoln man killed over debt was burned on a farm
Confidential informants told police the body of a missing Lincoln man was burned in a barrel over three days on a farm near Ashland, according to newly unsealed court records.

Those details surfaced in search warrants released this week that lay out how a quiet search by Lincoln police for 36-year-old Phillip Madlock transformed from a missing person's case to a drug and murder investigation.

Details of Disappearance
Madlock was last seen in Lincoln, Nebraska on June 28, 2017. He has never been heard from again. His brother reporter him missing on July 10; his family stated his disappearance was uncharacteristic and they thought something might have happened to him.

Prior to Madlock's disappearance, he had been afraid for his life. He began behaving strangely after he returned home from a trip to the Dominican Republic on June 19. He said he had met a woman there and he wanted to send her money to buy a home. He also said he'd borrowed $2,000 from "some Crips in California" and couldn't pay them back.

Madlock had asked a former girlfriend if he could "stay with her and lay low" because some people might be trying to kill him. He had started getting messages sent to him on his cellular phone from people he didn't know, the people sent him photos of his former residence. In late June, an unknown Omaha, Nebraska woman threatened retaliation from her family because Madlock denied being the father of her child.

In February 2018, Dominic. G. Aguirre and Paul A. Clark were each charged with second-degree murder, kidnapping, first- and second-degree assault, and using a firearm to commit a felony in Madlock's case. Photos of the two defendants are posted with this case summary. Both have pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

Investigators believe the two men went to Madlock to collect on a drug debt, then severely assaulted him in multiple locations in Lincoln before he died. They think they dumped his body somewhere outside the county limits. It has never been found.

The suspects are awaiting trial in Madlock's presumed death. Foul play is suspected in his case due to the circumstances involved.

2nd man gets 60-80 years for Lincoln drug-debt slaying

February 14, 2019

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — A second man accused of a fatal Lincoln beating over a drug debt has been imprisoned.

Lancaster County District Court records say 37-year-old Dominic Aguirre was sentenced Wednesday to 60 to 80 years in prison and credited for 397 days already served in custody. He’d pleaded guilty last month to felony assault and attempted kidnapping. Prosecutors dismissed charges of second-degree murder and other crimes in return for Aguirre’s pleas.

Prosecutors say Aguirre and Paul Clark killed 35-year-old Phillip Madlock on June 28 last year. Clark pleaded no contest to assault and weapons charges and also was given 60 to 80 years in prison.

Court records say informants told police Madlock’s body was burned in a barrel over three days on a farm near Ashland.
