Identified! OK - McClain Co, Remains at Drilling Rig Sit, Feb 2018 * Cynthia Garcia*

MCCLAIN COUNTY, Okla. – Officials say they are still working to determine how human remains ended up near a drilling rig site in McClain County.

Around 8:15 a.m. on Thursday, an oil field worker called 911 to report finding human remains near a rig site around I-35 and Hwy 59, near Wayne.

Investigators said the remains appear to have been at the scene for quite some time.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is continuing its investigation into the bones found in the southern part of McClain County February 1.

“The OSBI is still trying to make a positive identification,” McClain County Sheriff Don Hewett said earlier this week.

They are having some issues making the determination,” he said.The bones, thought to be a female due to the clothing items found nearby, have possibly been at that location for one to two years.

They were discovered by an oil field worker about 1/4 mile east of the Wayne/Payne exit on state Highway 59 and then south on a lease road.

I wish more information would be released (i.e. clothing items found nearby) as that could help with identification or perhaps allow some rule outs....hoping more information is released soon.

Authorities are no closer to identifying skeletonized human remains discovered February 1 in southern McClain County.

What is known, said Jessica Brown, spokeswoman for the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, is the remains are female.

Investigators are “working off a name we believe the person to be,” Brown said.

However, even that lead is tentative until the medical examiner’s office makes a positive identification.
It is believed the unburied body could have been at the location between 1 and 2 years.

Human bones found February 1 in southern McClain County have been positively identified.

Sheriff Don Hewett learned Monday from the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation the bones are the remains of Cynthia Garcia.

The 29-year-old Moore woman disappeared June 2, 2016.

The cause and manner of Garcia’s death haven’t been announced, Hewett said.

The body wasn’t buried and the remains were discovered by an oil field worker in a wooded area about 100 yards east of Interstate 35.

Animals had scattered the bones and a woman’s clothing was found nearby.
