One resident says his next door neighbors were the ones who actually discovered the skull when they were out looking for driftwood.
"I was a little surprised, but not overly surprised. But, from my understanding that used to be an old Indian burial ground. I kind of assumed at first that that might have been what it was, but I saw a picture of it and it looked like it was maybe not that old," says neighbor.
The sheriff said the medical examiner picked the skull up on Tuesday and will perform DNA testing to determine if the skull is human. The Medical Examiner said depending on the condition of the skull, it could take at least a couple of weeks get more details about the skull.
