COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) – Three officers, two El Paso County Sheriff’s deputies and a Colorado Springs Police officer, have been shot in Colorado Springs.

CBS4 has learned a deputy has died. Colorado Springs Police Chief Pete Carey updated news organizations and said the situation started as a motor vehicle theft near N. Murray Boulevard and Galley Road.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Police in Colorado Springs, Colorado, said they responded to a "critical incident" after reports of three officers being shot and one deputy killed in the line of duty. Authorities responded to the scene in the area of N. Murray Boulevard and Galley Road.

One Colorado Springs police officer was wounded and in surgery. His condition wasn't immediately known.

The names of the three victims and suspect were not released.

The suspected shooter was killed, Carey said. His identity was not released.

A civilian also was injured and hospitalized, Carey said.
“Deputy Flick was an outstanding member of my agency, and he will be missed,” said Elder, choking up.

Flick was the third Colorado sheriff’s deputy to be killed in the line of duty over the past five weeks, and the 22nd law enforcement officer slain in the Pikes Peak region since 1896.
