There is a 52-year old woman reported missing from the area since Saturday, Feb 3.

The area where she was reported missing from is directly north of the college campus along the river, so I'd say there is a good chance this is connected.

Missing woman's body found in Mississippi River near Southern University

Officials identified the woman as Yvette Nettles, 52, of Baton Rouge. She was reported missing to the Baton Rouge Police Department and was last seen on January 27, 2018 Baton Rouge Police spokesman, L'Jean McKneely, says Nettles had a history of mental health issues, including bipolar disorder and paranoid schizophrenia. The body was found in a pool of water blocked off from the main river flow between the river bank and a line of rocks.
William Doran, a professor from LSU, says he and his class were working on a project along the river near the university when they spotted the body along the bank.
