An urgent appeal has been launched to find a Scot missing in Hamburg.

Liam Colgan, 29, from Inverness , was last seen in the early hours of Saturday morning in the city centre.

He was partying with pals at the Hamborger Veermaster bar as part of his brother's stag do celebrations.

Liam is due to be best man at his brother Eamonn’s wedding in three weeks and loved ones are desperate to find him as soon as possible.

One of his friends said: “We flew out on Friday morning, and the last time anyone saw him was early on Saturday.

The Veermaster is located at Reeperbahn, Hamburg’s entertainment and red-light district. It was freezing cold here on Saturday, though it was sunny with clear blue sky during the day. Hope he‘s fine and didn‘t walk too close to the water (Elbe river nearby) while intoxicated.

Liam is still missing

“The distraught family of a Scottish man who went missing in Hamburg during a stag do have made an impassioned plea for information on his whereabouts.
Liam Colgan was last seen in the early hours of Saturday morning in the German city.

He had organised the trip for around 18 people ahead of his brother's wedding in March.

The 29-year-old has not been seen since 1.30am on Saturday in the Hamborger Veermaster bar in the Reeperbah

Young man and water nearby, don't like the sound of that.

any bodies of water around that bar he went missing from?

here's a city map but not easy to navigate for non-German speakers:

this map might be easier:

Lots of water, the Elbe river and harbor:

What is the area Liam went missing like does it have a lot of crime?

He could have fell in the water by accident or Liam could have got in a fight with someone.

There was a stabbing reported at Reeperbahn that night but the victim‘s age did not match Liam. Reeperbahn is a fun and red-light district. Dealers and prostitutes mix with regular party people and tourists from all over the world at night. Taxi offices and hospitals have been informed, but no leads so far. The Elbe has a heavy drift and the St. Pauli pears nearby are not secured: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Pauli_Piers

They also started searching the Elbe but the weather is pretty rough now. Last year, Timo Kraus, head of merchandising of HSV sport club went missing after a night out. They finally discovered his body 11 weeks later:

Thank you for this information it is very helpful.

Reeperbahn......?....is that deathroad in German?

The name "Reeperbahn" comes from the old German word Reep meaning "heavy rope". In the 18th century, heavy hempen ropes were produced here for sailing ships in the Hamburg harbor. Reeperbahn means „Rope Walk“.

Another BILD article, showing a picture of Liam taken that night.

Friday, 8:50 pm: The last picture of Liam is taken as he fills beer glasses for his friends. According to his brother, he was „very inebriated“ later on.

It is not good Liam was very inebriated. I hope the water is being searched thoroughly. What a nightmare for his loved ones.
