Shelton said it is believed Rickett is in danger of physical harm. "His mother stated to police that this is not like him to just disappear,'' he said.
Rickett is described as a black male. He is 5-feet, 6-inches tall and weighs about 135 pounds. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call Birmingham police Det. Valentine at 205-908-6828, or 205-297-8413 or 205-328-9311.

Daniel, a senior at Carver High School, was set to graduate with plans to join the U.S. Air Force like his father, who is now retired from the service.

Daniel was last seen Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018. He had spent some time with his older sister that day and then they went their separate ways in the 1100 block of 12th Court North. Daniel had eye surgery the day before he disappeared after he had been hit in the eye by a rock on the interstate.

Birmingham police distributed a flyer and family members organized searches for Daniel, but to no avail.

Candlelight vigil to mark 2nd anniversary of Birmingham teen's disappearance

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBMA) — Daniel Rickett would be 19-years-old this year, but his family hasn't celebrated his birthday in two years, since he disappeared from his mother's home on February 8, 2018.

Now two years later, his family is organizing a candle lit vigil to honor the memory of Daniel and hopefully spark interest in his case again.

Details of Disappearance
Daniel was last seen in Birmingham, Alabama on February 7, 2018. He spent some time that day with his older sister, one of his four siblings, and was last seen when he parted ways with her in the 1100 block of 12th Court north. He wasn't carrying a cellular phone at the time of his disappearance. He has never been heard from again.

Daniel was a senior at Carver High School at the time of his disappearance, and planned to join the Air Force when he graduated in the spring; his father is a retired Air Force veteran. He was close to his family and it's uncharacteristic of him to leave without warning. His case remains unsolved.

How could this have gone unnoticed for that long? I would think even in a rural area burning a vehicle would produce enough smoke to draw some attention and to burn a body it would have to be burning for a period of time. This is so sad my thoughts and prayers goes out to his family.
