Ryan Shtuka went to the gathering at a residence on Burfield Drive on Friday night, but has not been seen nor heard from since then.
Sgt. Brandon Buliziuk said Shtuka was last seen at 2:10 a.m. on Saturday morning and is believed to have left the party to walk the short distance to his home in Sun Peaks.
Buliziuk said Mounties have been searching for Shtuka since receiving the missing-persons call and have asked Kamloops Search and Rescue to help at first light on Sunday.

Anybody with information on the whereabouts of Shtuka is asked to call police at 250-828-3000.

Kamloops Search and Rescue has suspended its search for a 19-year-old who went missing in Sun Peaks over the weekend although the RCMP continue an investigation.

The team said Monday on Facebook that 22 members and 74 volunteers worked all day Sunday combing the area with snowmobiles, dogs and drones.

Meanwhile, the Kamloops RCMP is asking for help from the public in locating Ryan Shtuka.

"We have had the RCMP helicopter out today searching the area as well as we'll still be making patrols with the police dog service so our investigation is still very much ongoing," said Cpl. Jodi Shelkie with the Kamloops RCMP.

“KSAR is now suspended from searching; however, the RCMP is continuing to lead the investigation and any additional search efforts,” the search and rescue group said.KSAR used 22 members in the search on Sunday, from 5 a.m. to midnight, in addition to search dogs, snowmobiles, drones with infrared cameras and helicopters. Helping search and rescue crews were 74 volunteers from the community.

This sounds like the Alison Raspa disappearance case.
I hope LE is doing a detail job of interviewing the other guests at this house party.

'It's hard every day': Search continues at Sun Peaks for missing 20-year-old man

..."Well if somebody is disoriented, they are seeking shelter. It was snowing that morning and it was cold out," said Kamloops RCMP Cpl. Jodi Shelkie.

"There's those feelings of hopefulness and then there's the harsh reality of knowing that if he's in the elements, at this point in time, we are looking at recovery," Heather said. "So that's hard as a parent."

RCMP are asking the public to contact them at 250-314-1800 if they think they saw Shtuka after 2:50 a.m. on February 17.

The words "is believed to have..." are troublesome IMO FWIW

...left the party
...been headed home

:moo: :cow:

Yes, troubling indeed. I've not seen anything to say how many people attended the party and how many were still there just before he left. If there were dozens still there some sort of incident and cover up seems unlikely but if there were only 2 or 3 left then something untoward becomes more likely.
