"From all that we have seen there's no domestic issues, no business issues, nothing that would cause him to orchestrate this type of disappearance." With 30 years of experience with the Toronto Police Service under his belt Mendelson says Jiwani's disappearance just doesn't make sense. "It's mind-numbing actually," he said. "It's very rare that people vanish off the face of the earth and even if they're the victim of a crime, a homicide, the vast majority of the time the body turns up. "It's very rare that we have people who are just gone. There are sightings, there are some indicators that they are still alive and sometimes there are indicators that they've been murdered." Oddly enough this is not the first time Jiwani has disappeared. Two years ago Jiwani went missing for four days before turning up in the Sandbar Hotel, a notorious Hamilton crack house. Despite all the twists and turns of the Jiwani story two things are certain. The first is that Jiwani's wife and his two children are approaching a full year without him. The second, as Mendelson explains, is that the chances of finding Jiwani alive have diminished. "As time goes on the prospects get more and more dim," he said. "That's very unfortunate." Anyone with information is asked to call Halton Region Police or Mark Mendelson at 416-934-9288.

Would be interesting to know if he met family for lunch near the village, or if he went there after and that's why his car was found there.
