The Will County Coroner’s Office says an autopsy on 23 year-old Samantha Harer revealed a single gunshot wound, but that the final cause and manner of death has not yet been determined.

Investigators now say Harer’s boyfriend, 32 year-old Felipe Flores was in the apartment at the time of the shooting.

Flores, an officer with the Crest Hill Police Department has been placed on administrative leave as a result of the shooting while an investigation into what happened is ongoing.

The parents of a Channahon woman who died of a gunshot wound in February are suing the Crest Hill police officer she had been dating, the city of Crest Hill and the village of Channahon

The lawsuit goes on to say Flores and other police officers from Crest Hill and Channahon “disturbed and attempted to destroy the crime scene.” It added that while the Will County Coroner’s Office “disclosed evidence” after concluding Harer’s autopsy that pointed to her death not being a suicide, the defendants refused to release documents “that would show beyond doubt that Defendant Flores committed the shooting.”

The Herald-News filed its own lawsuit this week for the release of the
911 call alerting police to Harer’s death. WESCOM in February denied a request under the Freedom of Information Act for a recording, but the Illinois Attorney General’s Office determined, in a nonbinding opinion, that it should be disclosed

Any more details on Samantha? I live right by channahon and Crest Hill. It is a shame this case is not getting more coverage. Flores was accused of rape over a year before Samantha's death. The crest hill PD should have done an investigation on him then. But instead theyre all still protecting him. He has been on paid leave since her death, over a year. We need justice for Samantha.
