Sheriff's officials say family members found her vehicle Monday in the Kern River Canyon. They say she's about 5 feet 7 inches tall with a flower tattoo on her chest. If you saw Shayla or her husband Brandon Wingle between Feb. 16 and Feb. 19, call KCSO at (661) 861-3110. On Tuesday authorities said they don't suspect foul play. Below is a photo of their grey 2004 Chevy Silverado pickup.

The article says:
According to Brandon Wingle’s mother, Lisa Wingle, Brandon said him and his wife Shayla had an argument before they had car trouble and Shayla took off walking but never returned to their car.

“It was very cold and I don’t see her getting out of the car,” Lisa Wingle said.

Lisa also told 23ABC that getting a clear story from her son Brandon, has been challenging and that she believes others factors may have also played into Shayla’s disappearance.

“I think up here there’s a reputation for partying with different substance and we do think that was involved. We don’t know for sure I was not there, but that is suspicious and the way he has been since continues to make me believe that,” Lisa said.

“I first learned Saturday afternoon that he had been up here with his wife and something had happened. He was distraught because she was missing. He said they had a fight which was not un-typical at certain times and she had taken off which was also not un-typical,” Lisa added.

Since then family members and Lisa have been trying to piece together that Friday night. They said they were also unaware of where Brandon was at this time, but they were in contact with him via phone Saturday.

Brandon said him and his wife Shayla had an argument before they had car trouble and Shayla took off walking but never returned to their car.

Uh oh.. And it's been over a week.

I think we've seen this story before, and pretty much know how it ends.

This does sound very familiar. Even husband’s mom seems to think something is off. But LE says they don’t expect foul play...so...I imagine this UID is her and we will know more soon.

UPDATED:

Officials said the air unit located the body and search and rescue crews hiked to recover it.

KCSO said the woman has been identified, however they are still notifying next of kin.

Officials said they found evidence and belongings, indicating she was traveling through the area, however did not go into detail about what those items were.

The woman also had scratches on her body that police are consistent with the terrain in the area.

There were no obvious signs of assault on the body and nothing at this point that would lead them to suspect there was foul play.

Heavy sigh...

If this is her - How awful for her husband if, in fact, she really did storm off after they argued - and ended up getting lost/falling down a ravine. Ugh. :(

Another article on the body:

"The body of a woman who went missing last weekend may have been found on Friday, according to the Kern County Sheriff's Office.

The body found by Search and Rescue personnel along the Kern River could be that of Shayla Wingle, who was reported missing along with her husband Brandon. They were last known to be in the Kern River Canyon area driving a 2014 grey Chevy Silverado pickup truck."

This makes it sound like her husband is also reported missing. JMO.

I haven’t seen any pleas from the husband to find her - where is he in all of this?

Looks like they’ve been married less than 2 years.
