The severed head of a missing Hyogo, Japan woman was reportedly found in a suitcase in a vacation rental apartment in Osaka. A few days before finding the head, police arrested a 26-year-old American man for allegedly “confining” the unnamed missing woman in the apartment.

The man was seen walking into the apartment building with the woman on Feb. 16 but the woman was never seen leaving the building.

Shortly before her disappearance, the woman said on Instagram that she was going to meet a man named “Jay.”

The woman was last seen walking with the suspect, a 26-year-old man from New York, who was arrested last week after she was reported missing by her family.

He has reportedly denied the allegations.

The woman had told her friends that she was visiting Osaka to meet a man she had met on an app.

Local media reported that video footage from a surveillance camera showed the woman entering the condominium with the man, before the man was later seen coming in and out alone several times, carrying a large bag.

The man had arrived as a tourist in Osaka in January, the Asahi Shimbun daily reported.

Mother of American suspect: ‘My son’s dream was to marry a Japanese woman’
https://www.tokyoreporter.com/2018/...-my-sons-dream-was-to-marry-a-japanese-woman/
“My son’s dream was to marry a Japanese woman,” said the mother of Yevgeniy Vasilievich Bayraktar as she wiped away tears during an interview with the network in New York. “I don’t know how this could have happened.”
“Because he has a fondness for Japan, he said he wants to live there,” the suspect’s mother continued. “Our son is not the type of person who would do a terrible thing.”

During his time in Japan, Bayraktar is believed to have rented several residences, including the one in Nishinari, on a short-term basis.
Investigative sources have confirmed that four or five other women arrived at the Higashinari residence while the suspect resided there, according to Fuji News Network (Feb. 25).

Wow. This can’t be his first killing.. can it?

Wow. This can’t be his first killing.. can it?

IDK. I guess if we knew why he murdered her.
His mother said he wanted to marry a Japanese woman, the newspaper reported that 4-5 women visited him at the residence, maybe she rejected him and he snapped. But his mother also says that he would never do a terrible thing, so you have that.
I would like to see the ad "Jay" posted, is Jay his nickname? Fake profile?

The former stepfather of an accused Long Island killer says he was stunned to learn that the man is suspected of murdering and dismembering a woman in Japan.
“I always thought of him as being strange, but I never would have thought he would do something like this,” Bayraktar’s former stepfather Benny Dacy told the Daily News Tuesday.

In a yearbook photo from 2008, when he was a junior, Bayraktar appears solemn and unsmiling, with short hair and a clean-cut face.

“I was shocked [when I heard about the incident],” said Benny Dacy, the former stepfather of Yevgeniy Vasilievich Bayraktar, during an interview with Nippon News Network (Feb. 25) in New York. “When he was around me, he was quiet and shy.”
“As far as I know, he was never in trouble before,” continued Dacy, who lived with Bayraktar when he was young. “He was kind to people and animals.”
Investigative sources with the Hyogo police have revealed that the suspect met the victim on social-networking services Tinder and Matchapp. They communicated via Instagram.

Identity of woman allegedly mutilated and dumped by US man confirmed
https://mainichi.jp/english/articles/20180301/p2a/00m/0na/009000c
The identity of a missing woman whose body parts are suspected to have been abandoned across the Kansai region by an American man has been confirmed as Saki Kondo, 27, police said on Feb. 28.
Kondo, originally from Himeji, Hyogo Prefecture, was a proficient English speaker with a friendly personality who also had experience of studying overseas during university. Her friends and acquaintances lament that her life has been cut short, in such irrational circumstances.
According to friends, Kondo switched jobs to a company in the city of Sanda in Hyogo Prefecture, where she lived, roughly two years ago. Her competence as an English speaker enabled her to do executive-level interpreting at her new company.

Tourist who allegedly beheaded his date was a “mama’s boy”

Little is known about Bayraktar, who lived in a modest bungalow in Mastic Beach with his mother and her third husband.

He was briefly stationed at the McConnell Air Force Base in Kansas before he was “separated” from the service in June 2012, serving only 11 months of a four-year stint as an airman first class, an Air Force spokesman told The Post.

He refused to say why Bayraktar was prematurely discharged.

Bayraktar was born in Odessa, Russia, and arrived in the US as a 9-year-old after his mother married a Texas engineer she met on a dating site.

“He and his mother were very close, but he and I were not,” said Benny Dacy, Bayraktar’s former stepfather, who now lives in Houston.

Dacy traveled to Odessa to meet his future bride, who was 12 years his junior and trained as an engineer. She lived with her only son in a cramped one-bedroom apartment, Dacy told The Post.

Dacy flew them to the US where he married Regina in a civil ceremony at the city hall in Abilene, Texas, where he then had a home.

Dacy said he tried to cultivate a relationship with the boy, but he kept to himself and was very close to his mother.

“He was a mama’s boy,” said Dacy. “If we were having dinner and he didn’t like the food, his mother would get up in the middle of the meal to cook him something special, and this was at a time when we didn’t have a lot of money.”

Dacy, 69, told The Post that Bayraktar, who was known as “Jake” when he lived in Texas, maintained contact with his biological father, a doctor who sometimes sent him money from Russia.

After Dacy financed Regina’s nursing-school studies in Texas, she and her son simply disappeared, he said.

“She called once to ask me for a divorce but I had no idea where they were until the news hit,” Dacy said. “It was the most traumatic time of my life when she just left me. She is a very selfish woman.”
