PLAINS TWP. — Investigators were back on scene Sunday at the site where human remains were found inside a shed that caught on fire early Saturday in a trailer park, but there was no new information available about the case.

The remains were discovered by Plains Township firefighters battling the fire in the East Mountain Ridge Mobile Home Park on Jumper Road early Saturday, according to State Police.

State Police at Wyoming, Plains Township police, the Luzerne County district attorney and coroner’s offices are still investigating the incident.
Ed Fronzoni, a neighbor who spoke with the Times Leader, said that the home near the shed at 232 Pocono Trailer Park had been abandoned for at least six months.

Fronzoni, who has lived in the park since 2007, said it was the first incident he could recall involving a body or fatality at the trailer park, but added that police are called there frequently.

PLAINS TWP. — State police said human remains found inside a burned shed in a trailer park are those of a female between her late teens and 30 years of age.

A forensic anthropologist inspected the remains determining the bones were a female.
An odor of accelerant was detected by firefighters, according to a search warrant affidavit.

While firefighters were removing debris, they observed a burned blanket and a multitude of bones in the shed.
Authorities obtained the search warrant to examine the scene and for any evidence of an accelerant involved in the blaze. Tents were put up to protect the scene from inclement weather.

Thomas Ruddy, of Toms River, New Jersey, owns the mobile home park.
Ruddy told the Times Leader the house trailer has been vacant since he evicted a woman in late 2015. He said he began rehabbing the house trailer in October.
Ruddy said there has been a rash of break-ins of vacant trailers in the park.
According to the warrant:
Louis Sanchez, who handles maintenance in the trailer park, told investigators Ruddy instructed him to empty the shed.

Sanchez claimed he completely cleared the shed at about 8 a.m. Thursday, moving items from the shed to another house trailer in the park. About 45 hours after Sanchez said he cleared the shed, firefighters responded to the blaze and made the haunting discovery.
Luzerne County Coroner Bill Lisman requested the assistance of a forensic anthropologist due to the unusual circumstances of the scene and the number of bones found.

New details on death investigation in Plains Township

PLAINS TOWNSHIP,LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOUTV)-- We now know the skeletal remains that were found in a shed in East Mountain Ridge Trailer Park over the weekend were that of a male between the ages of 18-30 years old.

According to documents, troopers are still trying to determine if the remains are those of the physically challenged son of that resident.

State Troopers searched this trailer at 213 East Mountain Ridge Mobile Home Park in Plains Township. It is located directly in front of the area where a shed burned early Saturday morning. The fire was ruled arson.

Firefighters found skeletal remains in the debris of the fire. An autopsy determined the remains were those of a young male between the ages of 18 and 30. There was a diaper on those remains.

According to the search warrant Troopers asked the woman who lived here about the young man who lived with her. The woman allegedly told investigators the young man was her brother and had moved to New Jersey.

But according to the search warrant the woman, who we are not identifying at this point in time since she has not been accused of a crime- has a son who was born in 1993. The warrant indicates that Troopers searched the home looking for adult diapers...bic lighters and pack matches..as well as various paperwork.

Remains Found in Plains Township Shed Identified

DNA testing was done on those remains discovered during a shed fire in Plains Township at the East Mountain Ridge mobile home park back in February.

They have been identified as those of Shain D’Onofrio, 24.

Shain, who had some disabilities, is the missing son of Linasheri D’Onofrio who lives in a trailer next to where the remains were found.

The investigation also revealed Mary Mikulak, the grandmother of Linasheri D’Onofrio, has been missing since 2011.

Officials believe her to be deceased and are actively searching for her remains.

So far, no arrest has been made in either of the cases but Linasheri Donofrio, who was mentioned in a search warrant, is scheduled to be in court Friday for unrelated charges in Luzerne County.

Plains remains identified as disabled man, 24; elderly relative still missing, presumed dead | Times Leader
Search warrant affidavits say Shain D’Onofrio had cerebral palsy and needed the assistance of a wheelchair and motorized scooters to get around.

Multiple unknowns

Tenants in the trailer park told state police investigators in February they had not seen Shain for some time prior to the discovery.

When questioned following the fire, Linasheri D’Onofrio allegedly told investigators the disabled male, whom she identified as David Genovese, was her brother, but she often called him her son. She claimed David was living with their mother in New Jersey but refused to say where, telling investigators they are in the witness protection program.

But Linasheri D’Onofrio’s ex-husband, Charles D’Onofrio, told investigators he helped her and Mikulak move from New Jersey to the trailer park in 2007.

Mikulak, who would be about 100 now, has not been seen by relatives in many years. Family members from New Jersey hired a private investigator in 2011 to find her, but with no success.

Investigators have not been able to locate death records for Mikulak’s or any human remains.

Investigators say Mikulak may have been introduced to neighbors as Mary Genovese or Mary D’Onofrio, while Linasheri D’Onofrio also used several names, including Layla McCool and Layla Genovese.

I hmmmm too.

Geographical question. Why does Wyoming LE investigate this? Or is there Wyoming in Pennsylvania as well? Or are they talking about some trailer park in state of Wyoming?

I know you have Hollywood in California and then also in Florida. Then some counties have the same names in different states. You even got Amsterdam, Rotterdam and also London lol. Gets pretty confusing if you ask me.

I'm pretty sure it is Wyoming, PA: Wyoming, Pennsylvania - Wikipedia

Our geography is pretty confusing at times, lol.

On Wednesday, February 15, 2023, almost five years later, Pennsylvania State Police Captain Patrick Dougherty, Luzerne County District Attorney Sam Sanguedolce, and Plains Township Police Chief Dale Binker announced the arrest of 55-year-old Linasheri Donofrio for the death of her son Shain Donofrio.
