Found Deceased PA - Howard Bollendorf, 41, Berks County, 23 Feb 2018

The Exeter Township Police Department is investigating a missing person and is requesting the public’s assistance in locating Howard T. Bollendorf of St. Lawrence Borough. Bollendorf was last seen on 2/23/18 when he visited the PetSmart and Target on 5th Street Hwy in Temple PA. On 2/24/18, his locked vehicle was located on the Gibraltar Rd. river bridge with some personal items inside. Bollendorf is described as a white male, 41 years old, 5’10” with green eyes. He was last wearing blue jeans and hooded sweatshirt.

Investigators believe the body found on the Schuylkill River in eastern Berks County last weekend was that of a St. Lawrence man who went missing nearly two months ago.

But to prove it scientifically, on Friday they sent a sample of his DNA to a lab for confirmation. Officials don't expect the results for several weeks.


Investigators said they were unable to find dental records to identify the body as Howard Bollendorf, 41.


Bollendorf had no fingerprints on record and had no distinguishing tattoos or piercings that would confirm his identity, Coroner Dennis J. Hess said. Since no dental records could be found, officials had no choice but to use DNA testing, which they wanted to avoid so the family could have closure sooner, he said.
