"The county sheriff’s office urged parents to report to Leonardtown High School.

“There has been an incident at Great Mills High School,” the department tweeted. “Parents please DO NOT respond to the school.”

Information about any injuries or the person who fired shots was not immediately available."

Prayers going out to the entire community. This is heartbreaking.

Another bullied student?

Will some kids ever be taught that guns are not the way to handle bullies?

PC on Fox News...shooter shot female and male student. Then school officer fired at suspect while suspect also fired at officer. Officer was not hit but suspect is deceased . Female at shock trauma and in critical condition while male student is stable.

So is the shooter the only deceased? It's not totally clear.

"One person is dead after an armed student shot two other students at Great Mills High School in Maryland on Tuesday morning, according to St. Mary's County Sheriff Tim Cameron.
Cameron said the school resource officer engaged the shooter and ended the threat, and the shooter was pronounced dead. A male student is in stable condition and a female student is in critical condition, he said."

Yes, according to NBC Washington (I don't have a link, I saw it on tv) the male shooter died at the hospital. The female is in critical condition and the male that was shot is in good condition

Thank God that a good man with a gun was there to stop this or more would have been wounded and possibly killed.

This Resource Officer did his job and was not a coward who hid behind a wall in order to protect himself instead of going toward the danger eliminating the threat.

God bless this armed Resource Officer for eliminating the threat. He did not think of himself or his own personal safety. He did what he was hired to do whether it put him in a dangerous situation or not.

IMO

by Erik Ortiz, Gemma DiCasimirro and Erin Farley

Two teens at a Maryland high school were shot Tuesday after another student opened fire in the hallway just before the start of classes, authorities said.

The shooter — identified as Austin Wyatt Rollins, 17 — was injured and taken to the hospital, where he died, St. Mary's County Sheriff Tim Cameron said at a news conference.

Great Mills High School remained on lockdown for some time after, but the shooting was "contained" when a school resource officer "engaged" the gunman, Cameron said...

Police say Austin Wyatt Rollins brought a Glock semi-automatic handgun to his school in Maryland, and shot a female student in the hallway before classes began on Tuesday, March 20. According to the St. Mary County Sheriff Tim Cameron, Rollins, 17, was transported to Charles Regional Medical Center where he later died.

Austin Wyatt Rollins was an honor student at Great Mills. His Facebook page shows that he lived in Lexington Park, Maryland, and was a Nascar fan.

Rollins was born in Tennessee and moved to Maryland with his family in 2004. His dad, Rocky Rollins, is from Nebraska served in the Air Force.

Authorities say that Rollins entered the school and shot a 16-year-old female student in the hallway. During that shooting, a bullet hit a 14-year-old male student who was nearby.
