could be related to an earlier incident in a neighbouring town of Carcassonne, which left one police officer injured.
Butler said the suspect reportedly opened fire at four off-duty police officers out for a walk, before fleeing the crime scene.

It is believed that the attacker is the same person, who is involved in the hostage

  • Gunman now alone in supermarket with member of French security forces, latest reports say

Bit confusing as to what is really going on !!

Some reports described as everyone out others not - so not sure !!

In the other incident they believe is connected he attempted to run over 4 cops and then shot and then went to grocery store .

Not sure if anyone was held hostage as first reported or all escaped!

According to BFM TV when the man entered the supermarket, he shouted "Je suis un soldat de Daesch" (I am a soldier of Daesch/Isis).

He then took hostages and demanded the liberation of Salah Abdelslam.

From BFM TV again:

Ar 10;30 am a man shoot with a 9mm on a group of 4 CRS (policemen) who were jogging. One is seriously wounded.

He then carjacked a car. Driver seriously wounded, passenger killed.

He drove to a Super U (supermarket). Shouted "Allah akbar" and "I am a soldier of Daesch". Killed two employees.

Took several hostages who managed to flee.

Still at least one hostage.

An ISIS fanatic has been shot dead by police in France after he killed three people in a gun rampage and supermarket hostage siege.

The lone extremist, armed with a gun, knives and a grenade, hijacked a car, shot its passenger in the head and fired at police officers in Carcassonne, south west France, before driving to a Super U shop in Trebes.

After screaming 'Allahu Akbar, I'll kill you all', the Moroccan Islamist, named as 26-year-old Redouane Lakdim, killed a butcher and a shopper while terrified customers either fled from the store or hid in a cold room.

During his siege, Lakdim demanded the release of Salah Abdeslam, 28, the last surviving suspect in the 2015 ISIS attack in Paris that left 130 dead.

But after an hours-long standoff, special police units converged on the scene and stormed the supermarket. French President Emmanuel Macron this afternoon called Lakdim's rampage a 'terrorist act'.

French investigators said the man was known to intelligence services and had been flagged in a database of radicalised militants. His home was raided today and a neighbour said she had seen Lakdim 'taking one of his younger sisters to school' before he launched his attack.

Gunman shouting ‘Allahu Akbar’ takes hostages in deadly France attack

At least two people were killed and about a dozen others injured after a gunman claiming allegiance to ISIS opened fire and took hostages at a supermarket in southwest France on Friday, according to reports.

The suspect asked for the release of Salah Abdelslam, the prime surviving suspect in the November 2015 attack in Paris that killed 130 people, according to BFM TV.

The attacker — reported to be a Moroccan national who was known to authorities — killed the two people at a Super U store in the town of Trèbes, a security source told Agence France-Presse.
Trèbes Mayor Eric Menassi told BFM that the hostage-taker was now alone with one police officer in the supermarket after freeing all the hostages.
A dozen people were injured in the incident, officials said.
Police also responded to an earlier shooting of a police officer in the town of Carcassonne, about a 15-minute drive away, which took place at about 11 a.m. local time.

A French police officer who swapped places with a hostage during a supermarket attack has died, authorities said.

The gunman shot Col. Arnaud Beltrame when he responded to the supermarket attack in the southern French city of Trèbes on Friday.

The attacker killed two people and wounded more than a dozen others when he raided the supermarket. Before that, he'd killed one other person while stealing a car.
