Found Deceased IL- Maurice Wells, 26, Peoria, 22 March 2018

Maurice Wells was last seen at approximately 4:30 P.M. on March 22, 2018. He was last seen in the area of the 2400 block of West Howett Street. Maurice is missing from Peoria, Illinois. His nickname is “LeShon King.” Maurice King is an African-American male. He is 26 years old... Maurice is described as 5’7″ tall and 180 pounds. He has a beard and mustache. Maurice has a lion tattoo on his chest and a tribal tattoo on his shoulder. He Has piercings on eyebrow, tongue, and nose. Maurice uses public transportation. He was reportedly Upset when last seen. No one has Heard from him or seen him ever since.

Coroner: Body Found in Mossville Identified as Missing Peoria Man

Authorities are investigating the death of a Peoria man found near the Illinois River bank Monday afternoon. The body of 26-year-old Maurice Wells was discovered just after 2:30 PM near Mossville.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood says Wells was reported missing in late March. An autopsy is scheduled for today. Harwood says it is too early to determine if foul play was involved in Wells’s death.

Autopsy inconclusive for missing Peoria man found near Illinois River

PEORIA — Autopsy results for Maurice Wells, whose body was found Monday along the Illinois River, were inconclusive, Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said Tuesday.

Based on the information gathered from the preliminary autopsy and at the scene, Harwood said he believes the 26-year-old Peoria man was most likely in the Gaylord Wildlife Area near the 9200 block of Cross Street since he was reported missing March 22, according to a news release.

The Coroner’s Office will wait for toxicology results before determining official cause of death.

“There was no trauma, wounds or signs of struggle,” the release said.

No foul play is suspected, but the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office will continue to investigate, Harwood said.
