[h=1]Autopsy 'inconclusive' as detectives try to ID body found in ravine[/h]Published 9:47 a.m. PT May 2, 2018

Monterey County Detective Randal Dyck said an autopsy was performed but the results were inconclusive. Dyck said extra steps will be taken to help narrow down who Tulare County search and rescue teams found last week.

Little is known about the person at the bottom of a Monterey County ravine on Friday. Detectives believe the body found was a man but even that isn't clear.

The age of the person also remains unknown, detectives said.
"Right now, we don't have anything definitive," Dyck said.
Detectives will meet with an anthropologist examiner on Friday who will perform a forensic anthropology exam. The anthropologist examines the remains, looking for signs of injury.

The exam will take time, Dyck said.
Until then, Hood's family and friends continue to hope and pray for his safe return.

The body was found on Friday following the discovery of Hood's empty van by Monterey deputies.

Once alerted to the empty van, members of the Tulare County Sheriff's Department Search and Rescue Team and violent crimes detectives — who regularly investigate missing person cases — responded to the scene.

A body was later recovered from the bottom of a 100-foot ravine, not far from Hood’s van.

Deputies have not confirmed whether the body found is Hood and family is holding out hope it's not.

BBM. Seems likely this will turn out to be him but it has not been confirmed.
