Per CTV news driver in custody. Seems intentional to me. Ryder truck-rental?

Per CTV news a witness stated driver was male

Very busy area but given the nice weather I would think even busier

I just heard on talk radio, KFI, that locals are reporting that there are a few deaths, with covered bodies on the sidewalk.

I am listening to one local being interviewed, and he said that he saw a man get hit, in the intersection, as he was crossing the street. Then the driver kept going, and drove up on the sidewalk, and hit several more people.

He said the van was going about 30 or 40 mph when he hit the pedestrian in the crosswalk, then he sped away and kept going. He hit a woman outing a stroller.

Suspect was cornered by the police, right before he was arrested. And he yelled that he had a gun.

I am pretty sure this should be moved to the 'Rampage/Terrorism thread'---

A witness that I just heard seems certain it was intentional. He said the van was going about 30 or 40 mph when he hit a man in a crosswalk. He sped away and then went up on the sidewalk , into a crowd of people.

He then sped up to 40 or 50 and was hitting people one by one. On purpose, according to both witnesses I just heard.

Per CTV news. Eyewitness to the arrest. Stated driver exited vehicle and witness could see something in drivers hand. He stated he wondered if a gun or knife

Watching the recent witnesses describing the ghastly events, I am pretty sure this was terrorism, not accidental.

Toronto collision: Suspect in custody after van strikes multiple pedestrians

Vehicle drove up to a mile, fire official says

Stephen Powell, district chief for Toronto Fire, told CNN that the vehicle that struck pedestrians in Toronto today "covered between a half-mile and a mile."

Earlier, the Toronto Fire Service earlier tweeted about the crash, calling it "horrific."

CNN was interviewing witnesses, that told horrible stories.

One man saw the van run into a pedestrian in a crosswalk. And the van kept going, after hitting the man while going about 30 mph.

The van sped away and drove up on the sidewalk, hitting people one by one. He ran into elderly people and a woman pushing a stroller. And he just kept driving.

Witnesses said he was not in medical distress or passed out. He was conscious and looking ahead, as he hit dozens of people, one by one. He drove for nearly a mile, hitting victims as he went.

7 patients rushed to Sunnybrook Hospital Trauma Center. No word on fatalities yet. Per CTV news.
