Australia Australia - Tegan Lane, 2 days old, Sydney, 14 Sept 1996 *K. Lane guilty*

Unbelievable! I'm wondering if this "Andrew Norris" guy was a man who gave a false name for whatever reason -- maybe because he had just met her at a pub and didn't want a relationship with her outside a sexual one. I hope this man does have Tegan, but who can believe anything Lane says?

What really gets me is her trying to blame other people for not knowing or helping. Like it is the responsibility of those around her to know of her sexual exploits and the babies that result from them.

AS Keli Lane struggles to resume a normal life, Police Commissioner Ken Moroney is preparing to task a crack team of detectives with solving the mystery of her missing baby.

News of the fresh homicide investigation will place greater strain on the Manly woman, who remains the key to the mysterious disappearance of her baby daughter, Tegan Lane, eight years ago.

Ms Lane, now married with a young daughter, has been forced to consider moving back to her parents' home to try to settle crippling legal bills accrued during the recent coronial inquest.

And her career as a sports teacher at one of Sydney's leading private schools for girls, Ravenswood, is over.

Baby Tegan disappeared two days after her birth at Auburn Hospital on September 12, 1996, when she was discharged into her mother's care.

Tegan was the second of three babies Ms Lane kept secret from family and friends. The other two were legally adopted.

KELLI LANE TO APPEAL

Tegan will try to find me: baby killer mum

July 15, 2013, 11:58 am

The husband of convicted murderer Keli Lane says his wife believes the baby she is accused of killing is living with another family and will one day seek her out.

Mr Cogan says Lane watched a television report about an Indian boy trying to find his family and said "that is going to be me".

Mr Cogan said Lane was "selfless" and a "model mum" to the child she had kept.

He said her health had deteriorated in jail and she was losing hair and a lot of weight.

Lane's appeal has been set down for July 23 and 24.

THE husband of convicted murderer Keli Lane says his wife believes the baby she is accused of killing is living with another family and will one day seek her out.
In his first public statement Patrick Cogan said Lane is confident Tegan is alive but has more than one theory about where the little girl is.

The court found Lane murdered her two-day-old daughter in September 1996 and sentenced the mother to at least 13 years and five months in jail. Tegan's remains have never been found.

She is appealing against the conviction next week.

Keli Lane was not reported at all in MSM after the first day in court. It was supposed to be 2 days but all was silent after this tweet

For the record. I have had 2 Private Investigators looking for Keli Lane's daughter last 12mths. Following 2 leads. Murder? We'll see.

I wonder why so quiet when the sentencing length of another mother was factored in to Kristi Abrahams sentence.

Former Olympic water polo champion Keli Lane will make a bid to the High Court today in an effort to appeal her conviction for the murder of her newborn child...

Lane’s legal team will petition for the right to appeal her conviction in the High Court, arguing that the jury should have been given the opportunity to find her guilty of manslaughter rather than murder.

The petition will be heard by two justices of the High Court, which will be sitting in Sydney today.

The life of Keli Lane

I had not heard of this case before today. Somebody I am close with works with keli and asked if I had seen her on TV not long ago.
Having read a few of the linked news reports I am not sure what to think.
From the above story his part does not sit well with me

The jury cannot come to a unanimous decision, so Justice Whealy advises a majority verdict of 11 to 1 is acceptable.
The jury find Keli Lane guilty of the murder of Tegan Lee Lane.

Is this something that is done often?

I have heard of 11-1 being accepted before in other trials, I'll just check. I found that in NSW majority verdicts was introduced in 2005, it has been accepted in other states much earlier than this.

It must have been a difficult case as there was no body. Keli won't say why or where she took the baby except giving her to some fictitious person, so the worst was presumed happened. jmo
