A murder mystery in south Nashville has left police searching to find out who killed the owner of a popular Mexican restaurant and market. The incident occurred Saturday night in a home invasion and robbery at the Players Club of Brentwood apartment complex.

Police say Aurelian Ceja, 72, and his wife Teresa, 68, answered a knock at the door around 11-30pm. A gunman of Hispanic descent then forced his way into their home, demanded money and beat them with a blunt object.

Teresa Ceja, who does not speak English, telephoned her son and told him that she and Aurelian were badly injured. The son called 911.

Aurelian Ceja died from his injuries but his wife survived the brutal home invasion and is still hospitalized.

The suspect is described as a 20-25 year-old man of Hispanic descent, 5'6"-5'8" tall, who weighs approximately 190 pounds. His hair was either slicked back or in a pony tail and was wearing casual clothing.

Detectives believe the suspect specifically targeted the couple and, in all likelihood, knew they operated a Mexican restaurant and store.

The Cejas owned and operated three La Hacienda restaurants in the Nashville area.

Investigators believe the couple was targeted by someone who knew they operated the successful restaurants. It is unknown if the invader left with any money.
