"BLUE ISLAND, Ill. -- Most dead people end up in the back of hearse.

Michael Wells died driving one.

The 34-year-old funeral worker was on his way to pick up death certificates when he got stuck in traffic behind an accident Thursday afternoon at Vermont Street and Francisco Avenue in Blue Island.

When firefighters cleared the scene and traffic started moving again about 3:30 p.m., Wells was found slumped over the steering wheel of his stationary hearse, his father, Robert Scott, said.An off-duty Cook County sheriff's police officer found Wells with his foot on the brake pedal and the hearse, which was not carrying a coffin, still in gear, Scott said. The father of four girls, who had a heart transplant in 2002, apparently suffered a seizure, Scott said."

That's fairly ironic...

Oh how sad. :( About a month ago there was a similiar situation here. It did not involve a hearse but it involved a big tourist type bus that carries military families from the airport in Frankfurt to whatever military base here in Germany they will be stationed at. The bus had a few dogs in kennels down in the bottom and moms dads and small children and when it got to right here at the base we are at the bus driver had a heart attack and died at the wheel the bus ended up flipping. Some of the people had to be airlifted to Landstuhl thankfully though nobody died except the bus driver due to his heart. We live deep into the woods and mountains and to get here you have to take many loooong small windy roads and I could see where already having a bad heart to begin with while driving here could cause a problem.
