Chris Cornell is leaving rock group Audioslave, citing "irresolvable personality conflicts as well as musical differences."

"I wish the other three members nothing but the best in all of their future endeavors," Cornell said Thursday in a statement.

An after-hours call to Audioslave's music label was not immediately returned.

Cornell, 42, a former singer and guitarist with Seattle grunge band Soundgarden, said he'll release a solo album May 1 called "Carry On." He also co-owns a restaurant in Paris, where he splits his time.

He will still do great things, he is such a talented talented man.

Yes he will.

I wish him well. I love Audioslave!

MMMMMMM Chris Cornell....yummy:blowkiss: :blowkiss:

I have always loved him from Soundgarden til now.
Good Luck to him, he will do very well at anything he does.

I will definitely be buying his solo album when it comes out. Has anyone seen his video for 'You Know My Name' from the Casino Royal soundtrack? It's very...yummy. :blushing: :p

Soundgarden back together now please.

Audioslave sucked anyways. The guys from Rage Against the Machine should have been jettisoned to the moon a long time agao.

I'm beginning to think that Tom Morrelo is a pain in the *advertiser censored* to work with...why else would two good bands break up? First RATM and now Audioslave.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

I love Chris Cornell's voice!! Will look forward to his solo album.

Thanks to all (but especially DK) for making me feel really, really old!

I have no idea who any of these people are. But I hear Tony Bennett still has the chops!

I ran into Chris Cornell and his adorable little girl about a year ago in the Las Vegas airport. He is even more beautiful in person than he is in pictures and video. :)

I loved Soundgarden and Audioslave. Once I heard that Rage was doing a concert together this summer, I had a feeling it meant the end of Audioslave. I hope Soundgarden reunites. I think Chris has one of the best voices in rock today.

I didn't like his singing style when he first went to Audioslave, but I've been really enjoying his most recent work with them, especially their latest, "Revelations."

Soundgarden rocked, yo!

The Rage concert is a one shot deal, or so they say.
