VERO BEACH The muddy banks of the canal near Oslo Road still haunt Vero Beach Mayor Tom White.
Between 1981 and 1983, serial killer David Gore, now 53, killed six women in the county and buried their bodies in the canal banks near Oslo Road.
These weren't accidental killings these were premeditated," said White, who was a detective with the Indian River County Sheriff's Office in the late 1970s and 1980s investigating those murders.
Gore, a former auxiliary sheriff's office deputy, used his auxiliary badge to impersonate a sheriff's deputy and get close to his victims. White on Thursday retold his account of the David Gore case to a Canadian film crew, which will wrap up taping segments today to use on the Biography cable channel television show "Crime Stories."
