Six years after she disappeared, her family came together over the weekend to keep her memory alive.

Sunday marked the sixth anniversary of Niqui McCowan's disappearance from a Richmond Indiana laundry .

After five months of no leads back in 2001, police found her vehicle with the laundry still folded in the back seat in an apartment complex in the Dayton area.

That is the only significant lead police said they had.

The myspace page says she worked at the Montgomery County Pre-Release Center. I wonder if the inmates who were there at the time have been checked out thoroughly. I assume they are free to a certain extent, to go to work, etc?

On the "FindCarrie" site, dedicated to Carrie Culberson, there is a post about a meeting of the families of missing persons. The families of Carrie Culberson and Karen Jo Smith were there. Both women are still missing, yet their abusive "significant others" have been convicted of their murders. The site adds, "It is believed that she [Niqui McCowan] is missing under the same circumstances as Karen Jo and Carrie, although a conviction has yet to happen." So looks like there's a likely suspect already.

Article released today from the Paladium Item.
Here is a few cmments from the article. I have posted the link to the full article as well.
"The sister of Marilyn "Niqui" McCown confirmed Friday evening reports that a former Trotwood, Ohio, police officer is being questioned about Niqui's 2001 disappearance.
Officer Tommy L. Swint resigned reportedly under pressure Aug. 31 from the Trotwood police department after a Richmond detective informed them that Swint was a suspect in McCown's disappearance, the Dayton Daily News was reporting in its online editions Friday night."

I am so glad that something is happening in this case. Six years is too long. My love and prayers to the family.

I am glad that this case is finally going somewhere. What a nightmare for the family and friends of Niqui.

I think it's strange that her SUV ended up in her ex-bf's apartment complex many miles away. I can only hope LE knows what they are doing with this police officer.

I miss "Unsolved Mysteries". I wish it were back on.

Oh. Just ran across this article dated 10/13/07. Swint and McCown were very close friends. So he would know or be able to find out where her ex lived and put the car there.

"He's been a suspect from the very beginning, maybe a month after she went missing," she said. "I hope they're wrong about him. It's hard to understand how anybody who's there to protect people could harm someone."
Richmond police Capt. Greg Pipes said Swint has refused to be interviewed about McCown's disappearance.

and
A native of Alabama, Swint joined the U.S. Marines and saw combat in Panama in 1989. He left the Marines the next year, and moved to Dayton, where he met Lisa, his wife of 15 years. They have one child. For a July feature story about his hiring in Trotwood, Swint of Harrison Twp. told the Dayton Daily News that he spends his free time volunteering at homeless shelters and boys and girls' clubs, and speaks at high schools about self-esteem. He could not be reached for comment Friday.
According to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction, Swint hired on at the Dayton prison in May 1994 as a corrections officer. He officially resigned effective Aug. 21. Prisons spokeswoman JoEllen Lyons said he was not under investigation by the department when he resigned.
McCown joined the prison staff in August 1994 as an account clerk in the business office and still worked there at the time of her disappearance.
Public records show Swint had several civil judgments against him for failing to pay his bills in the 1990s, and four traffic citations from 1995-2002, but no criminal history.

Hmmm. I hope justice comes swift and hard. I wonder if they'll be able to track his whereabouts when she went missing? It's so long ago. :(

That's quite a ways from Dayton, but he is a native of Alabama...and Georgia is the next state over from AL.

Just trying to help but doubt this is her now.

I'm brand new on this case:angel: .. But I can sure see some similarities with these pictures that makes me wonder..

I pray to God this family finds their 'beautiful girl'. No family deserves this suffering.

I don't feel right about leaving this here. I know the clothes don't match up etc. I kept thinking of this one all night. I'll delete it later today if that's best.

Great job taxi! I am going to be looking through here myself all night to see if anything pops out. If anyone wants to look here is the link for the start http://www.doenetwork.org/ Thanks again Taxi!!

Yes it is. I grew up in Henry and Wayne couny area. How far is Trotwood, from Richmond??

I'm so glad they looking into it and they may have some answers soon
Trotwood is approximately 35 to 45 minutes away from Richmond. I believe Trotwood is still considered Dayton.
