Vital Statistics at Time of Disappearance
Missing Since: May 10, 2003 from Aurora, Illinois
Classification: Endangered Missing
Date Of Birth: December 16, 1980
Age: 22 years old
Height and Weight: 5'6 - 5'7, 150 - 160 pounds
Distinguishing Characteristics: African-American female. Black hair, brown eyes. Bell wears clear contact lenses. She has a tattoo of her first name, Tyesha, written in cursive lettering on her right ankle, and scars on both the upper and lower portions of her right arm. Bell's hair was in braids when she was last seen.
Clothing/Jewelry Description: A light pink short-sleeved shirt, blue jeans, white sneakers, a blue cotton jacket with red stripes from shoulder to sleeve, gold hoop earrings, and a gold ring on her left ring finger set with a blue topaz birthstone and two cubic zirconiums on each side of it.

Details of Disappearance
Bell was last seen by her sister late in the evening of May 10, 2003, inside their shared apartment in the 800 block of north Randall Road. She has never been heard from again. She is believed to have left her apartment without her identification or any money.
The father of Bell's younger child is considered a person of interest in her disappearance and is known to have lied to investigators; he claimed he had not spoken to Bell for two months prior to her disappearance, but her phone records show that they spoke to one another six times on the day Bell went missing. In fact, he is the last person known to have spoken with her. The man had been financially supporting Bell at the time she vanished, as she was unemployed. Authorities obtained a search warrant and drilled holes in the floor of his basement, but they found no evidence in Bell's case, and a cadaver-sniffing dog did not indicate the presence of human remains. Bell has two young children. Her family says it is uncharacteristic of her to leave without warning; they fear she met with foul play. She had previously had differences with her mother but they had improved their relationship prior to Bell's disappearance. Her mother stated Bell had been acting differently prior to her disappearance and was more withdrawn. Bell has a minor criminal record, but there is nothing in her background that suggests she would be likely to voluntarily disappear without a trace. Her disappearance remains unsolved.

Tyesha Patrice Bell – The Charley Project

Snipped
...the missing persons cold case is now considered a homicide. No arrests have been made and authorities are asking for the public's help finding the person who killed Bell.
  • Dec. 11,
  • found remains in a remote wooded area of Kane County.
  • "A number of bones were found along with clothing and other personal effects,"
  • They were positively identified using DNA and dental exams.

A Yorkville man was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the death of Tyesha Bell, an Aurora woman who went missing in 2003 and was found buried in a shallow grave in December 2020.

Prince L. Cunningham, 49, was indicted Tuesday, and his bail was set at $5 million Wednesday, according to the Chicago Tribune.
The indictment comes a year and a half after the remains of 22-year-old Bell were found in a shallow grave in a wooded area in Kane County. Although skeletal remains were found in December 2020, Bell's body was not identified until March of the following year, Patch reported.

Should we assume the accused is the previously unnamed father of the youngest child?
