Police are continuing the search for a 64-year-old Manchester man who is missing and may be in need of medication.
Police are asking the public's assistance in finding William Schmidbauer of the Cedar Glen West section, which is a senior community, Sgt. Anthony Cucchiara said. Schmidbauer is a Vietnam veteran, police said.
Schmidbauer's wife last saw him about 11:30 p.m. Saturday when she fell asleep, Cucchiara said. She believes that he was home early Sunday before she awoke because the morning paper had been brought inside their home, he said.
Schmidbauer was still missing at 4:30 p.m. Monday, and the Ocean County Black Sheep Squadron, a volunteer air patrol based at Miller Air Park in Berkeley, had joined the search Monday morning, police said.
He left home without essential medications, Cucchiara said.
Schmidbauer is described as a white male, about 6 feet 1 inch, 170 pounds with short brownish-gray hair and hazel eyes. He is believed to be wearing blue shorts, a brown T-shirt and black sandals. He has a 4-inch scar on his right thigh.
Police are asking that anyone with information about his whereabouts contact them at (732) 657-6111.
