October 30, 2007

City police are also continuing the search for a woman with physical and developmental disabilities who has been missing since 4 p.m. on Oct. 19.

Linda Holgerson, 57, of Clinton Avenue, was last seen when she was dropped off by a friend at the Bank of America on Broadway, between Henry and Van Deusen streets, to cash a check, police said. Police said they believe Holgerson got into a white or light colored Dodge Caravan, which was parked on Van Deusen facing Broadway.

Holgerson is a client and employee of Gateway Industries, which serves people with developmental disabilities, and her employers told police her disappearance is troubling because she never missed work without calling first.
Holgerson is white, 5-foot-7, and approximately 200 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes, police said.

City police continue to look for a 57-year-old woman who has been missing for more than two weeks.

Sgt. Wayne Maisch said on Saturday that police passed out fliers and spoke to passers-by Friday near the Bank of America branch on Broadway, where Linda Holgerson last was seen exactly two weeks before, and they received some leads that are being pursued. But no hard information about Holgerson's wherabouts has been developed, Maisch said.

Holgerson, who lives on Clinton Avenue and has both physical and developmental disabilities, hasn't been seen since a friend dropped her off on Oct. 19 near the Bank of America branch. Police believe Holgerson may have, soon after, gotten into a white or light-colored Dodge van that was parked on Van Deusen Street, facing Broadway.

From October 2009:

Holgerson went missing on October 19, 2007 from the Bank of America branch on Broadway in the City of Kingston. She was last seen getting into a white vehicle, possibly a minivan, in front of the bank.

Holgerson, who was mentally retarded, was missing for about two weeks when her body was discovered on November 4, 2007, at the end of a driveway on Route 23A in the Town of Prattsville. An autopsy revealed she had been murdered.

Since then, State Police and City of Kingston Police have investigated hundreds of leads that to date have come up dry.

This poor woman...........have many questions firstly did anyone from her place of employemnt or at an adult center (if she she belonged to one) quit and leave town jsut after or just before she went missing.
Whose driveway is it that Linda was found ? Did she have any reason to be in the vicinity at the very least of the driveway? Was the security tape reviewed for the whole day that Linda was in the bank ? How about her phone records?

So sad......am sure there is a very special place in Hell for who ever did this.

Ms. Linda Holgerson was born on March 1st 1950 in Cortlandt Manor ,Westchester, Ny. Born with different abilities, she was one of three children. Not much is known of her child/teen years. Sometime during the years as Linda grew into adulthood she ended up residing in Kingston, Ny. I imagine during those years Linda was a vibrant fun lady. She held a job at Gateway Institution (Gateway Hudson Valley) as was a client of theirs. She had friends, attended many gatherings and was a Parishioner of the United Methodist church on Clinton Ave, also in Kingston. She had a life of people she loved and people who loved her. Sadly She would go missing on October 19th 2007 from the Bank Of America on Broadway in Kingston, Ny, the place she called home. Her body was found two weeks later in Prattville, Ny some 40 miles away from her home, at the end of a driveway occupied by vacant homes on a lot.

As police investigate the matter, Linda's family and friends are racking their minds of who would want to hurt Linda? Why her? As she was no threat or harm to anyone. There was news from the investigating officers, they suspect foul play and they were now calling it a homicide. Ms. Linda Holgerson had become a victim of homicide.

Here was a 57 year old woman with different abilities, loved by family and friends, was a part of the community. How could something so horrific happen to such a loving woman.

Days pass and the investigators release very little information about the case. They go on to say that they are looking for a man in a white 2002-2007 dodge van, 30-40 years old. Medium built, brown hair and mustache. They want to know where he dropped her off after he picked her from the bank. He is not a suspect.

It is now 2009 and no new leads on Linda's murder.

By rules of the law Linda's case is now a cold case. Not closed just cold.

2018 now approaches and still nothing new on Linda's case. Investigators decide that they would make another attempted at canvasing the area looking for anyone with information. They find very few leads(what they are no one knows).

It Is now the year 2023. 16 years have passed since Linda Holgerson's murder, No arrests have been made. Still question' s remain. Who would want to hurt Linda? Was it someone she knew? Was someone stalking her? We may never know. As Linda's case gets colder, leads, witnesses start to die out, no more calls come in the hope of finding out what happened, her family and friends are left with not knowing what happened or who did it. That leave's Linda Holgerson a homicide victim with no justice.

I do not know Ms. Linda Holgerson. I am someone who came across her story and was touched and saddened by the events in which occurred that took Ms. Holgerson's life. When I think of Linda, I sense that she was a vibrant, funny woman. She loved her family and friends and was caring. She was making a life for herself, and didn’t let anything deter her. Why Linda?

I hope this story reaches all who knew her and cared for her. LET'S NOT FORGET LINDA HOLGERSON.
