A San Marcos man who said he was going fishing Saturday morning has not been heard from since, police said.

Mauro Pacheco, 39, left his home around 8 a.m. to go fishing in Canyon Lake, his mother told police Monday night.

According to SMPD Sgt. Dave Waugh, Pacheco's mother did not know who his fishing companion was.

"No one has heard from him and he did not show up for work Monday," Waugh said Tuesday afternoon.

Pacheco is described as Hispanic, 5'7 and 170 lbs. and of medium build, with brown eyes, long straight black hair and a mustache. He also has the letters JACP tattooed in red ink on his left arm. When last seen he was wearing jeans, a blue pullover shirt and brown boots.

Waugh said Pacheco has been entered into missing persons databases.

Anyone with any information as to his whereabouts is urged to call San Marcos police at 753-2108.
