Murfreesboro Police are looking for a man who was seen riding a bicycle after leaving a missing woman's vehicle in the Wal-Mart parking lot on South Rutherford Boulevard.

Wal-Mart surveillance video shows an unknown man — not 69-year-old Marsilene Smith — was driving the woman's Lincoln Navigator sports utility vehicle when it was left in the parking lot Thursday.

This happened right down the road from my house. I shopped at the WalMart that her Navigator was discovered at on both Saturday & again today. :( It's sad to look over at the area that her SUV was found at -- and know that she is still missing.

I'm praying for her family and hope that she found safe very soon.

I read that the TBI took her vehicle in for processing after it was found, so I'm hoping they can get some good fingerprints off that of the man who was driving/left on the bike. Does anyone know how long it takes normally for results?

I wished that we knew exactly if, in fact, she had done any shopping that day (via debit/credit transactions, etc.). I wished we knew more information so we could get a better idea of the area she was in and at what time.

Praying she'll be found soon.

Authorities in Murfreesboro have located the cell phone of missing woman.
Marsilene Smith, 69, has been missing since Thursday, after leaving her Village Green Circle home at about 1:30 p.m. to go shopping.

Her car was found early Friday morning, parked in a remote corner of the Wal-Mart parking lot on Rutherford Boulevard.

Tuesday night, officials found Smith’s cell phone on Barfield Crescent Road, a road near her home but in the opposite direction in relation to the Wal-Mart where her car was found.

Police said the random pattern is concerning, and raises questions about how the phone got there.

No news unfortunately today (that we know of anyways). Her cell phone was found yesterday.

Hoping for resolution in this case soon. Someone out there knows something... please do the right thing and speak up. Her poor daughter deserves to know where her mother is. :(

According to a report, the case of a missing Murfreesboro woman has gone cold.

It's been three weeks since Marsilene Smith went missing, and police told the Daily News Journal that the case has gone cold.

But police said they're still treating the case as a top priority.

they are saying this in an effort to keep from tipping someone off, I think they have some ideas but are being tight lipped on the case. the link below is from this morning, they think or suspect that someone close to her may be responsible and for now, it is still considered a missing person case. I had read somewhere else that he had denied taking a lie detector test as well and has retained a lawer. sounds like he might know more then he is letting out?

Police first thought she was a possible victim of a random carjacking, but now there's a possibility that someone close to Smith is responsible for her disappearance.

...surveillance video from a Walmart parking lot. It shows a man pulling a bicycle from Marcie's SUV and casually riding away.

"The posture would indicate it's probably an older person riding the bicycle," said Kyle Evans, a Murfreesboro Police Spokesperson.

Smith [husband] gave a heartfelt plea after his wife disappeared, but now he's not talking.

"My understanding is that Smith hired an attorney and communication is very limited," said Evans.

"As of now not officially ruled suspects, but not ruling out someone from the family is involved in this case," said Evans.

...Murfreesboro police said this is not a cold case. Solving Smith's disappearance remains a priority and a team of detectives continue to track down leads.

Police investigators are reviewing footage of a missing Murfreesboro woman's family and friends talking to news crews, hoping to gain new leads in the case.

Television news stations in Nashville agreed to hand over on-camera interviews to aid in the search for Marcie Smith, 69, a diabetic who's been missing for six weeks, Murfreesboro police spokesman Kyle Evans said.

Now this is just strange:

http://www.wkrn.com/global/story.asp?s=8050894

A Murfreesboro woman was forced to call police after the husband a woman missing since last year would not leave her alone.
Marsilene Smith disappeared in December 2007.
She was last seen in the parking lot of a Wal-Mart on December 6.
While her car was found, she has not been heard from since.
Teresa Goodwin recently met Marsilene Smith's husband Palmer at Toot's restaurant in Murfreesboro and struck up a conversation with him. (more at link)

Now it's strange and creepy:

(snip)
A second woman has now come forward and said Palmer Smith, the husband of Marsilene Smith, who disappeared in early December 2007 and has not been seen since, has been harassing her.
The woman lives in the Smith's neighborhood and did not want to appear on camera.

I live couple of miles from the Wal-Mart, it is certainly an odd occurance for this town. Especially given it was daytime and the Wal-Mart's in this town are always packed with cars.. Her husband look innocent to me at first but most woman of her age, in daylight, if someone was trying to take them, I would think would cause commotion. So now I tend to side on someone parked her vehichle there. Anyhoo, who knows, with gangs everywhere now days. It is also odd her cell phone being found where it was.. Hopefully there will be some resolution soon. I'm still dumbfounded it took 2 yrs to find the little girl from Smyra here, the location she was found is a very public place..

Wow, I did not know that.

Mr. Smith is certainly a strange bird. I'm not sure if we are seeing anything sinister. It could be onset dementia.

Just thinking of Marsilene Smith today and wanted to bump up. She is still missing and deserves to be found. :(

I was thinking of this case a few days ago, could not remember her last name (common as it is!).
Was hoping it had been resolved.

West Tennessee search for missing woman concluded

.....“Investigators systematically excavated several places in this area of interest. The dirt was sifted and searched for possible evidence. Through the combination of these efforts, several small bone fragments were discovered. These items were collected and will be sent for forensic examination. No other items of significance were discovered during the search,” Evans said......
