Maricopa Jane Doe 1999 Thread #2

Thank you for the new thread! I wonder if we could get a copy of the ME report? Someone that lives in Phoenix could pick it up.

I am in the process of constructing a letter to send to the local media to see if we can get any investigative interest in this case-I will post it when it is done, ok?

Here is what I sent to the Arizona Republic:

To Whom It May Concern;

I am a volunteer on a crime solving blog that dedicates itself to locating missing persons and identifying the unidentified. In 1999, a beautiful young girl was thrown, pushed or jumped out of a moving vehicle along highway I-10 around milepost 173. The people in the vehicle came forward and indicated that she was a hitchiker they had picked up at a convenience store and agreed to take through Arizona. Although the driver of the car, a male, had a criminal history there was not enough information either about the victim or the circumstances to file charges. The girl lived for a day and never spoke during that time frame. Her cause of death appears to have been internal head and abdominal injuries.

There is no doubt that with a push from local or national media, this little girl can be brought home to the family that may have lost track of her, and the individual or individuals that may have perpetrated a crime can be brought to justice. I urge you to take some time to look into the information surrounding this very compelling case-surely someone out in your section of the country knows something that can bring this case to a conclusion. There seems to be little appetite on the part of law enforcement.

I am going to hit a few other local papers with the same letter...let me know if you have any other suggestions for contacts that might do a little digging in this case.

Any updates on this case? Thanks!!

I feel so sorry for her. I've been following this but it seems to have stalled. As rccook wonders, are there any updates?

Believe - a wonderful letter!!! I hope it gets some results. Any chance Greta or Nancy would do a spot on this case?

This composite was removed from the Maricopa ME's site. I wonder why the Doe Network put it up but didn't update the case information? The ME's office provided more details.

I noticed this one from the other thread on this and wondered if it had ever been checked - didnt see anything on it to about half way through that thread.

If her hair was dyed blonde and her eyebrows tweaked shed look quite like like this to me easy to lose some weight being a runnaway too. Shes a missing runaway from 1997 in tuscon arizona.

i actually have liked her for Jane Doe-I can't remember if LE ruled her out??

From the Maricopa website:
The markings around her mouth in the enclosed photos pertain to medical treatment just prior to death and are NOT scars or identifying features that she would have had.

I assume they are talking about the scar on her cheek. How would they know this? Is there some way of telling whether a scar is medical or not, or how long a person has had it?

The markings don't look like a scar to me - it looks like scrapes, bruises and swellings. I assume that, since the police took her to the hospital, the hospital knew what treatment she had been given prior to her death and doctors were able to communicate that information to the ME.

Hi everyone! First time poster, long time lurker. I was going through The Doe Network pictures and come accross this one.

Has she been ruled out? I looked through several pages but wasn't able to find any information on this doe posted here. Sorry in advance if she been looked at before concerning this case.

Actually it looks like saliva from the removal of her breathing tube to me...
