Sheriff's deputies launched a massive search Sunday morning in the Guerneville area for a woman who disappeared overnight after leaving a downtown bar and who later apparently suffered some type of serious injury

The Sonoma County Sheriff's Department reported that Michelle Johnson, 32, was last seen at the bar McT's Bullpen on First Street in Guerneville at 1:20 a.m. A male friend called police to report her missing, said Sgt. Steve Freitas.

Police searching for a missing 32-year-old woman found a red pickup truck that could be a key clue in the case, NBC11's Jennifer Arteburn reported Tuesday. It matches the description of one Michelle Johnson may have been trying to escape from. They have not said where they found the truck or to whom it belongs.

Sonoma County sheriff's officials resignedly voiced their worst fears Wednesday, saying that they believe the young woman kidnapped early Sunday is dead, and they announced that they had taken the rare step of booking a 34-year-old Guerneville man on charges of murder and kidnapping before finding Michelle Johnson's body.
