Placer County homicide detectives are in the North Antelope area this afternoon where a body has been found. Sources say that the circumstances appear to be suspicious.

~snip~

Investigators are being very tight-lipped about the details of the body, not telling how long the body has been at the crime scene, or even the gender.

My first thought is that Christie Wilson may have been found. Definately will keep my eye on this.

Lt. Jeff Ausnow said a county public works employee checking for garbage ran across the body between Baseline and PFE Roads.

Ausnow said the body has been on the roadside for "no more than a few days" and is "visually obscured." He said the deceased person's age, gender and cause of death are not yet apparent.

Probably not Christie but another poor soul. I hope they ID this person soon.

Authorities have determined the woman was killed but are not releasing any information about what led them to that conclusion. Crime scene investigators also spent Monday going over the scene.

The sheriff's department said it has checked its missing person reports and those from other jurisdictions but has come up empty so far in identifying the victim.

Early teens or 20's, wonder who she is and why no one's reported her missing? Maybe she's not from the area.

She was the girl who always made everyone laugh and the one who went out of her way to make other people, especially her patients, feel special, friends said.

Alicia Ernst’s 24-year-old life was cut short when she was murdered last week. An employee with the Department of Public Works discovered her body last Monday morning on the side of Walerga Road near Old Walerga Road in Roseville, according to Lt. Jeff Ausnow of the Placer County Sheriff’s Office.

Ernst’s co-workers in Auburn said they remember an “awesome” girl. Rondha Sullivan and Susan Vedder, both certified nurse’s assistants, said they worked alongside Ernst at Siena Care Center in Auburn for almost two years. The two said they also worked with Ernst’s mother at the same time.

The family of murder victim Alicia Ernst, released a statement to the media Tuesday saying they are devastated by their loss.

“Losing our beloved daughter, sister, niece, cousin and friend is an incredible loss that words cannot describe,” Brandon Ernst wrote in a prepared statement. “Our family will be mourning this tragic loss for years to come. Alicia will be dearly missed but never forgotten.”

Ernst and Erends knew one another, however, the motive for the alleged killing has not been made public by officials.
Erends is additionally charged with a special allegation of the use of a deadly weapon. According to a felony complaint filed March 17 in Placer County Superior Court, Erends reportedly used a sharp-edged utility tool in the commission of the crime.

Investigators reported that Ernst was killed in the early morning hours of March 8 at the location where her body was found. The alleged murder weapon has been recovered, officials said.

Not that there is ever a good reason why but WHY? This young woman was a joy to hear about much less feel the loss of to her family and friends. Could this be a case of jealously? Such a terrible tragedy all the way around. The woman that did this needs to answer for her crime.

I saw an article in my local paper about this case - and the next schedule "status conference" is on July 17th.

I can cover this trial, if anyone is interested??!! Just let me know! And I'll take some days off of work and attend when it starts!
