Distinguishing Characteristics: Biracial (Hispanic/Turkish) female. Black hair, blue eyes. Katherine has surgical scars on the crown of her head, the left side of her chest, her right lung, and her abdomen. Her left side is semi-paralyzed. She also has a shunt on the back of her head. Katherine may use the last name Muzo.
Clothing/Jewelry Description: Black pants, a red shirt, white shoes, and a white ski jacket with patches on it.
Medical Conditions: Katherine is in great need of medical attention. She was diagnosed with brain cancer in 1992, had a stroke in 1995, and needs medication to prevent headaches and laughing seizures. She has the mental capacity of a one-year-old and is unable to communicate or understand commands. Katherine is partially blind. In addition to the cancer, she suffers from panic attacks and pulmonary fibrosis, a terminal lung disease.
Details of Disappearance
Katherine was last in San Leandro, California on May 17, 1998. She was abducted by her non-custodial father, Muzaffer Caner. A photograph of Muzaffer and his vital statistics are posed below. The day before he fled with Katherine, he told family members he would be taking her to visit other relatives in Lafayette, California. Days before he and his daughter disappeared, Muzaffer also sold his auto repair business, indicating the abduction was carefully planned.
Katherine and Muzaffer may be traveling in his brother's tan/beige 1984 Executive Motor Home with California tags numbered 2AYS585, or they may ride in a tan four-door 1996 or 1997 Ford sedan. Muzaffer may have taken Katherine to his native Turkey or to Mexico. They may also possibly be in the area of Vancouver, Canada, where some of Muzaffer's family members live. He may be seeking alternative cancer treatments for Katherine.
A Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) warrant for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution was issued for Muzaffer on June 4, 1998. There are additional warrants out for Muzaffer's arrest on charges of child abduction and endangering the health of a child. Katherine's case remains unsolved.

His teeth are chipped and decayed. His nickname is Ken and he may use the alias Ken Muzo. Muzaffer speaks English, Turkish, and some German and Spanish. He was born in Isparta, Turkey, and has previously been employed as a journalist in Germany.
