Independence police are seeking help in finding a man reported missing by his family.

Sergio Hernandez, 36, left his family’s Independence home Saturday evening to meet friends at the Oasis bar in Kansas City, according to Independence police. The friends said he never arrived. Hernandez’s truck, minus the radio, was found Sunday in the parking lot of Margarita’s, 2829 Southwest Boulevard.

“Apparently someone had made threats against his life fairly recently,” police spokesman Tom Gentry said.

He asked anyone with information to call the Independence Police Department at 816-524-7330.

On April 4, 2008, the Jackson County Prosecutor's Office, on behalf of the State of Missouri, filed an indictment of one count of murder in the second degree and one count of armed criminal action against Arteaga.

Following a trial, the jury acquitted Arteaga of all charges on May 21, 2009. The circuit court accepted the jury's verdicts and entered judgment on June 3, 2009.
