SAUK VILLAGE, Ill. (CBS) ― A body was found in the south suburbs Friday, two days after the disappearance of a 15-year-old girl.

Police are still working the scene at 10 p.m. Friday. CBS 2's Dana Kozlov reports the body was discovered Friday afternoon in a wooded area near 223rd Street and Torrence Avenue in Sauk Village.

Sauk Village Police Chief Thomas Lacheta said because of the body's position in a creek, it was impossible to tell if it was that of a male or a female, the age or the race. However, he did say it was discovered Friday afternoon by a village employee just hours after police launched a search for the missing teen.

15 y/o Brashai Griffin has been missing for two days and there's another young man that has been missing too.

Very, very sad. I live in Sauk Village and I saw the missing posters.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's office says a body found in a creek in the southern Chicago suburb of Sauk Village is that of a 15-year-old girl who had been missing for two days.

Sauk Village police say the body of Brashai Griffin was discovered late Friday by a village employee searching for the missing girl. They say the creek was near a trail that children use as a short cut home from a nearby junior high school.

:( I hope they find the person responsible for this very soon. How horrible for her parents and friends.

I didn't hear anything about her being missing either. So sad, she seemed like a beautiful girl.

A Sauk Village man today was sentenced to 75 years in prison for sexually assaulting and strangling a 15-year-old honor student and classmate whose body was found dumped in a wooded area in the south suburbs in 2008, authorities said.

Timothy Easley, 24, was given the sentence during a hearing at the Markham Courthouse before Cook County Judge Luciano Panici...

A jury convicted Easley in January of first-degree murder and aggravated criminal sexual assault for sexually assaulting and strangling honor student Brashai Griffin... Easley and Griffin were classmates at Bloom Trail High School.
