This is horrible! And I pray this lady will survive and her babies too. It is strange that she was shot because most of the time bank tellers just give the robber the money..they are trained to do that. I wonder if this bank teller was married and what are the circumstances surrounding her pregnancy.
 
That's an interesting question, Snowlover. Gosh, I hope they all survive too. :( Is there any link for this story yet or is it just breaking news there?
 
It was just breaking news when I posted. It is curious to me because most bank tellers when robbed are not shot. And her being pregnant makes me all the more curious. Was she targeted? I sure hope not.
 
Yeah, I tend to think that most bank robbers are going for the least human damage possible. They normally just want money.
 
I read he is a black man, about 215 pounds, wearing a black leather jacket and blujeans, a mask and a black hat..police also said he wore sunglasses, teal surgical gloves and was carrying a Tec-9 semiautomatic gun. Plica said they believe others are involved..the driver of the blue honda. VERY curious about this story.
 
Taximom, I so agree with that. Most bank robbers just want the money. From time to time we will read that people inside a bank were shot but it's usually not the teller but a customer. It is weird.
 
It almost sounds, from reading the original article, the gun may have gone off when he jumped over the counter. It's possible he didn't have intentions of shooting anyone and it just happened. Of course, that's no excuse!:behindbar

He also fired a shot as he left the bank, so it sounds as if he was hyper. OR......on drugs.

I'll pray for this poor woman and her babies survival. :(

I use to be an operations specialist for a bank years ago and it's very strange to have someone shot when they are cooperating. And why shoot at just her, and then aim at her stomach? Usually you see upper body wounds. Info is still scant, but this could be a hit made to look like a robbery. IMO, Someone may not have wanted to be a baby daddy. Police are currently questioning two Warren Central High School students. They are not suspects, but police think the students may have seen or heard something that could help the investigation. The students are being brought in for questioning. Police are looking for a third student who was apparently seen on videotape, although Eyewitness News has not confirmed where that videotape came from.

ETA: The bank is close to a freeway. An indicator that this could be the typical bank robbery. Bank robbers want to get on the freeway and away from the area as fast as possible. The last thing they'd want is to get stuck in traffic. I doubt they'd be going back to school to take that 4th period math test.
 
If the teens were involved, you would think they would know that if a crime was comitted in the area, the school would go on lock down. Either they didn't think far enough ahead or they were just skipping. This is just my opinion.

"After an intense two-hour search through cargo trucks, warehouses and neighboring hotels, officers say a K-9 tracked a scent to Warren Central High School. Not only did police find trails of money behind the school, surveillance video shows two students entering the building shortly after the hold-up. Police questioned students and later released them into the custody of their parents.
"The two young men were seen trying to enter the school that students shouldn't be coming or going from the school," said IMPD Chief Michael Spears."



"The injured teller, 30-year-old Katherine Sheffield of Franklin, is five months pregnant with twins. She is in critical but stable condition in intensive care following surgery at Methodist Hospital and both of the twins are okay at this point. It is believed that the bullet went through Sheffield when she was shot. She was alert and talking when taken to the hospital."

"Police are searching the interstates and a local hotel in the area. They are looking for a 1990s four-door gray Dodge Intrepid that may have been involved in the crime. Police believe the suspect got into the passenger's side of that vehicle. Another vehicle, a blue SUV, may also be involved.
Investigators also found surgical-style rubber gloves possibly worn by the suspect during the robbery and thrown away during the getaway.
Warren Township schools went on lockdown during the search."

A literal paper trail of money left behind the school; scent tracked there by a K-9; are they sure those students weren't involved as look outs in some way? Hopefully these students will be watched to see if they buy any expensive new things. I don't understand how a bank robber will be so sloppy to leave a literal paper trail behind them. What scent was the K-9 tracking exactly? If the suspect may have got into a Dodge Intrepid get away vehicle, then why the paper trail? If the students were part of this, they may have lost money in their rush to get back to school as an "alibi".
It sounds like a messy thrown together bank robbery hastily planned out by a few individuals.
Thank God the woman and her twins are okay.



 
It seems your right, it was a sloppy robbery. It does make you wonder if they were involved. If they were just skipping....they picked a bad time.
 
Tonight on the news they had the neighbors speaking and they said this couple had been trying for a while to get pregnant. So sad. Hoping these babies and mom make a speedy recovery

Listening to ppl talk of the couple, I am doubting the father was to blame. Could be wrong though
