I searched for a thread here w/her name, Heather Walker, but didn't find anything. She went missing Feb 9, 2008 and was found in a trash can between abandoned buildings on April 26, 2008. :( :( :(

Vigil planned

Authorities have released no information on Walker's death, but family members said homicide detectives and coroner's investigators were working on the case.
"Somebody killed her. It's a murder investigation," Robert Walker said Sunday.
Heather Walker is also survived by a son, Devin, 2, and a brother, Robert Walker Jr., 20.
Her body was found early Saturday about three blocks from Sam's Market on East Third Street, where family members said she was dropped off on Feb. 9. (more at link)

After identifying the body of her missing 18-year-old daughter, Heather, at the coroner's office Saturday afternoon, Tammy Marie Walker drove to East Third and Jersey streets, where Heather's body had been found that morning in a trash can between abandoned buildings.
Walker tore away the police tape in an alley behind East Third and began shouting to anyone who would listen.
"She was a good girl! She was a good girl, you (expletive) bastards! God! There's nobody looking out for (expletive) around here! You no good bastards!"
Walker broke down crying as residents looked on helplessly Saturday afternoon, April 26. (more plus pic at link)

Area where body found riddled with crime

(a lot of info here)
The Walkers say they notified police after Heather failed to call them for several days, but police declined to file a missing person's report because Heather had run away several times as a youth. "Because she had a history of running off, they wouldn't take it seriously and blew it off," Robert Walker said.

A memorial Myspace for her:

I'm pretty sure this is an old Myspace for her:

More updated:

And this appears to be her baby's daddy's site:

Wonder what he's been up to?

Good grief, Taximom .... thanks for the links. Was it not clear to *anyone* that this young girl was troubled? If LE "blew it off", does that indicate they'd "heard it all before" and she'd wasted their time, or what? WHERE is the responsibility? Surely it's down to parents - and earlier rather than later. (Maybe the difficult, frustrated or helpless kids should be tagged the first time .... God, what can people do?)

Youth dying, being murdered or ending up as killing machines. :(

From those myspaces, this def looks like she was involved in some sort of gang. Iow, if a jealous GF was involved?

:( I don't know what to think. Or should I say...I do and I shouldn't say?! Makes me crazy.

The first clue is that nobody is willing to say anything. That pretty much tells everyone it is gang related.

Yeah, I'd like to know more about who dropped her off, and why they dropped her off at the store by herself, apparently. If it's a bad part of town, surely there is surveillance video by that store.

Very sad.

One of the articles mentions that she had been dead for awhile when she was found. But I have a hard time believing she was in that trash can for almost two months and nobody noticed, nor was the trash picked up. It seems to me that she was kept somewhere else, alive or dead.

Does anyone know what type of trashcan she was found in? A big dumpster, a large single unit plastic can, other?

One of the articles said the trash can was between two abandoned houses, not buildings as I read in the first article. So I'm thinking it's just a typical trash can. If the homes are abandoned, would anyone be going by the can?

She might have ran away for a while, who knows. Then got killed days later. :( I hope they can figure out something with what's left in the trash can. I feel sorry for her family.

Taximon, thank you dear for starting this thread. I had been reading about this young girl and felt she should have a place here on the boards. You took the time to start the thread and thank you again. :blowkiss:
RIP Heather and prayers for her family.

The area is crime and drug ridden, lots of empty houses and stuff like that. It is possible that it is an empty house and the trash guys knew that and didn't check it. That area just keeps getting worse and worse. I grew up right there in that very neighborhood and got out as soon as I could. Which was when I was 18 and it wasn't as bad then. The kids there all like to act like thugs and get into trouble and much doesn't happen to them. I have seen the prostitutes and I am shocked that they are getting rid of them and doing something about it. Lots of drugs there to of course.

I agree StillHoping. And if she had been dead for 2 months would they ask her mother to ID her at the Coroner's Office? That sounds weird to me.

I don't think she died the day she went missing.

Candlelight vigil marks third year anniversary of teen's death

DAYTON, Ohio --Three years ago, the body of a local teenager was found in a trash can off Jersey Street, and police still have not solved the case.
Last night, family and friends of Heather Walker held a candlelight vigil in the same Dayton alley where the 18-year-old mother's body was found.

I'm listening to this case on "True Crime All the Time - Unsolved", dated 08 March 2021. I'm surprised to be on here and see there is no activity since 2013, over 7 years ago.
