Its been about 3 months now, and i still feel somewhat confused when reading a lot of the contradictions between victims. Searching through the websites i have found out that an old boss of mine posted as to one of the early 1990's drownings in Eau Claire, WI. I will ask him, and also start searching the water area (that is if we dont get any more snow....) for Smiley faces and, if i find any, take some pictures to post of my own.
I do realize that a large quantity of these drownings are most likely accidental, but i can tell you i have walked home many nights with little recollection of walking home in winter(if you arent from around here, you probably have 2-3 jack and cokes to my 1 served here...) and have NEVER detoured down to the areas of water below. Believe me, sober or drunk when its 0 outside and we are wearing 3-5 layers of clothing, I still walk as quickly home as possible.

I feel like i should continue to mention the fact that our masonic temple is located downtown on the waterfront, and has a back exit (one door) right on the water, but isnt a dock or any real form of exit. Outside of fire exit issues alone, very creepy.

ETA: i google mapped 616 graham eau claire wi, the building is actually one more over. It gives the masonic temple as being in the belowground parking ramp for the people who stay in that APT building, however, i have never been inside so what do i know. You can see the doors do not have a way of opening from the main front doors with googlemap, but i will have to take actual pictures of the rear entrance, as there is no way to get it from googlemaps.

sipping coffee at the Purple Rose Theatre

Hundreds of family members, friends and community members ventured out to look for Eric Duffey, who last was seen at about 1:15 a.m. Saturday leaving Joe's Bar in downtown Stevens Point.

Even after the official search was suspended at about 4:30 p.m., police and friends continued to search neighborhoods where Duffey might have wandered as he tried to walk to his residence on the 700 block of Isadore Street.

I love this series of threads, thanks to SeriouslySearching for doing much work. But "River Killer" deaths have as competition a rather well-established phenomenon: the tendency of males, especially young males, after drinking, to walk down to the river to pee. It's slick. You slip.

Just when I think that I have seen the most depraved things a human can do to another human, somebody posts a new story...........

Why is it that when a custodial parent fails to provide for a child it is called neglect and is a criminal matter. But when a non custodial parent fails to provide it is called failure to support and is a civil matter?

    Another possible victim:
    Max Walker
    Milwaukee River
St. Ambrose University honor student Max Walker, 26, was in Milwaukee for an insurance convention. He was last seen at the Buckhead Saloon—a downtown Milwaukee nightspot in a tourist area known as the RiverWalk—about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 26, 2006. His colleague called the police about noon on Wednesday to report that he had not come back to the hotel room.

Sadly, it looks like Nick Wilcox could be a possible victim.

Body identified as Nick Wilcox, missing UWM student

Per one of the news articles, he got separated from his friends while out celebrating the new year, and he was last seen by bouncers with a man in a red shirt.
