In other news, the sect leader of a cult in New Mexico was arrested this week for having sex with underage girls.

On Thursday night, Larry King Live is devoting his program to "going inside a cult." Although this is not about the FLDS, it should give a good background on cults. Check your television schedule for Larry King Live on CNN for the time in your area.

These people are nothing but Horney B@$t@rds looking to legitimize their criminal behavior. :furious: :behindbar

I know from a very early age my kids knew NO ONE was allowed to touch them but me. Why are these parents not teaching their kids to love themselves so much to be able to disobey bad people?

"Some of the cultists are kids, which makes this hour particularly timely. While there are many differences between Strong City and the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints polygamist ranch in Texas, now in chaos amid charges of child abuse, the movie does give us a bracing close-up of the vulnerability and impressionability of children raised in such extreme situations. The Strong City kids have been indoctrinated to look forward to their demise, and they are fully prepared to lose their lives before they've barely begun. "We weren't made to live on this earth away from Father," says one emotional teenage cult member to another. "It's just going to be awesome to leave this world behind."

"Removing the children from Strong City - which happens to a few kids during the course of "Inside a Cult" - does not solve their psychological dependence on the people who have raised them. Two children sent back to their mother outside the cult go on starvation diets until she feels she must allow them to return."

A system of authoritarian leadership; (suspicion of) multiple wives, sexual assault; breaking of child labor laws, control of information, a system of power and strict supervision; dress codes for women are enforced; Women are required to call their husbands their "heads"; a "breeding program"; select girls and boys from the world to become future priests and priestesses of the church. Sounds like the flds doesn't it?

"The troubles facing Mr. Hawkins may soon provide Texas' first major test of strengthened anti-polygamy laws, just 150 miles from the national spotlight on Eldorado and the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The 73-year-old was arrested and indicted in February less than two months before raids on the Eldorado compound charged with four counts of promoting bigamy, made a felony in 2005 after the unrelated FLDS group arrived from Utah. "This will probably be the first case of its kind," said Callahan County Attorney Shane Deel, who began investigating the House of Yahweh after taking office in 2005.

Hmmmm..... Utah and Arizona don't seem to be publicizing this case like they are the FLDS.

I watched the one-hour Larry King Live presentation, on the Strong City cult led by Wayne Bent, who has been arrested. I felt it gave a good perspective on how these cults operate. Throughout the program, Larry King addressed the son of Wayne Bent, who is as crazy as his father. He claims his father is the archangel, Michael, and said he witness his father's change from the man he knew to the archangel who entered his father's body.

Wayne Bent is referred to as the Messiah who will lead his followers in the last days, which he claims are now upon us. He proclaimed that the world would end on October 31, 2007. Despite the fact that the date has passed and the world didn't end, his followers haven't wavered in their belief that the world will soon end.

During the program, there was a portrayal of two young girls working in a kitchen and talking about the sexual experience they had with the Messiah, which they said was a religious experience.

Surrrrre he is. This is the same "messiah" that has screwed his son's wife.
That's messed up, that is!

(In a dry tone of voice) Perhaps they weren't paying attention and this one slipped under their radar.
PFFT. It has the same elements as the flds and AZ, Utah and Nevada ought to be paying attention. After all, these cults tend to mushroom, getting larger and spreading out. P'raps they'll rush over to Utah since Shurtleff is making it welcoming over there.

I am reading a book called "God's Brothel" (by Andrea Moore-Emmett) which includes the stories of several women who were a part of FLDS as well as several OTHER splinter Polygamous groups. They are ALL sick - in some the FATHER of the husband can just demand to have sex with ANY of his son's wives - as the "Patriarch" of the family ALL the women and children 1st belong to HIM.

Here's a LIST of the various Polygamous Doctrine Churches active for at LEAST 5 years as of 2003

The Apolostic United Brethren (AUB) - Bluffdale UT, Pinedale MT, Pleasant Valley NE, Ozumba, Mexico Also Settlements in Rocky Ridge, Cedar City and Motoqua UT - at least 7000 members

The Fundamentalist Church of Jesus of Latter-Day Saints (FLDS) - Hilldale, UT, Colorado City, AZ, Bountiful and Creston British Columbia Canada, Mexico, SD, El Dorado TX, Colorado - at least 15000 members

The True and Living Church of Jesus Christ of Saints of the Last Days (TLC) - Manti, UT - at least 300 members

The Church of the First Born of the Fullness of Times - Colonia LeBaron Chihuahua, Mexico, also settlements in TX, CA, and Juab County UT - at least 500 members

The Church of the Lamb of God - Hanna, UT, Mexico - 100 members

The Latter Day Church Of Christ - Salt Lake City, UT - marry ONLY within their own family (pure blood) - at least 2000 members

The Church of Jesus Christ of the United Order - Sacramento, CA and Jackson County, MO - 70 members

The Righteous Branch - Paquin, UT - 100 members

The Church of Jesus Christ - Jackson County, MO - no membership info available

The Patriarchal Hierarchy - Green Haven, UT - 50 members

The Patriarchal Christian Fellowship of God's Free Men and Women - Fundamentalist Christian Polygamists - Steve Butts Broken Shackles Ministry, Maine Utah, Washington State, last known to be in Texas - at least 14,000 members in the USA

PLUS thousands of independent Mormon and Christian fundamentalist polygamist family groups lead by the patriarch of each family - numbers unknown

Abuse of children and infants seems to be a theme in EVERY woman's account - as well as girls married as young as age 9 or 10. In most cases women and children are considered PROPERTY by the men and do NOT have free will. They are told what they may eat, drink and wear, who they will marry and when and are told they should have a child a year. They are punished if the have a child who is imperfect because the MOTHER obviously sinned or wasn't sweet or pure enough. In many of the groups there is no vaccination and according to a couple of accounts every year or two MANY children die from epidemics withing the sects of Whopping Cough and Measles. Within most groups babies who are born with evident handicaps do NOT survive - father or grandfather makes sure that the baby "died in childbirth" or was "stillborn". They do not "do" birth certificates or death certificates and the accounts verify that very FEW women have a Birth Certificate, Drivers License or SS#. The boys get them at 18 or 20, IF they make it that long within the group, otherwise they don't have a BC, DL or SS# when they are dumped (as young as age 13) with only the clothes on their backs.

The accounts of these women are heart wrenching and have stark details of just how brainwashed and subservient they were trained to be. When they do get "out" they are often so lost in the real world they end up going back or joining ANOTHER Polygamous Church and marrying another polygamous husband. They TRULY believe they are worthless and without redemption and the Mainstream Mormon Church WILL NOT ACCEPT A FORMER POLYGAMIST as a member. They lose their FAITH too. It's very very sad.

My Opinion

FlowerChild,

I didn't realize this sickness was so widespread.

Fox News is reporting that Texas authorities are investigating another polygamy sect.

From your link:

"If a bunch of adults want to get together and follow some con man and throw their lives away, that's their right in this country," said Callahan County District Attorney Shane Deel. "But to me, when you do that to children and they don't have a chance, that's where the biggest concern is."

Exactly! Go get 'em Texas!

LOL, I bet they are disgruntled that the FLDS has gotten so much publicity over their case. No one had even heard about the House of Yahweh arrest until after the FLDS raid. Wonder if they will now open their 'compound' to the media and have their women speak on camera?

Yikes! Nancy Grace is profiling the Yahweh sect - who also practice polygamy. The leader, Yisrayl Hawkins, has reportedly got two dozen wives, and forces children into hard labor at age 8. This group is considered dangerous, as it more closely resembles Jim Jones. They believe a nuclear holocaust is imminent. Shown is one of his sermons on war and famine, which he says we're now experiencing. The nuclear holocaust was to happen in 2000.

The compound, 120 miles north of El Dorado (FLDS). They all live in trailers. Hawkins is being charged with rape of his step-daughter. The same set up as the FLDS - children made to work, welfare payments, men working and pay going to the church.

I started another thread for House of Yahweh since this thread was started for the New Mexico freakshow, I mean cult.

I found several archived articles from the Abilene Reporter-News dating back to 2006, but they've been around this area since their former cop turned "prophet" founded House of Yahweh after he was fired from the APD in the 1980's. I didn't want to take over this thread so I made a new one. Here's the link.

A Taos jury found the religious sect leader guilty Monday (Dec. 15) of three out of four counts accusing him of fondling and lying naked with two teenage girls in 2006. See video with interviews here.

Religious nuts and sex with young girls. What is it about men, religion, and oppression of women? You'd think that religious people would would respect the rights of young women to grow up as vessels of God, not man and actually protect their children from sexual abuse because they are 'of God.' I'm starting to think that God needs to smite a few people.
