MADISON, Wis. -- A surgeon, nurse and pilot were killed when a University of Wisconsin Hospital Med Flight helicopter crashed shortly after dropping off a patient Saturday night in La Crosse.

The cause of the crash was being investigated Sunday, but UW Hospital chief operating officer Margaret Van Bree said it appeared to have struck a hill or some trees.

There were no survivors.

This is a real loss. Terrible tragedy.

When something like this happens there is no understanding. It is just beyond what we can comprehend.Life flight and then crashes. Too hard.

Yes, terrible.

Didn't another one crash recently? It seems it's happening way too often. Of course one crash is too often.

Yes, a University of Michigan plane with transplant organs crashed into Lake Michigan last June killing six.

"MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- A Medical Transport jet from the University Of Michigan crashed into Lake Michigan Monday afternoon.
Police said six people were on board. Coastguard officials said they have found debris from the plane and human remains. Officials said they believe this is a non-survival plane crash."

IIRC, all the patients who were waiting for those organs got transplants.

This is terrible. It reminds me of that scary movie, can't remember the name right now, where they survive a rollarcoaster accident only to be killed in horrible deaths. Can't escape death when it's your time to go.

I always feel so awful when these things happen, such a terrible loss.
