Details of Disappearance
Baker was last seen at his grandmother's residence on Derby Street in Chattanooga, Tennessee on January 9, 2001. He has never been heard from again. He was not reported missing for a long time because each family member though someone else had filed a report. Due to Baker's lifestyle and the company he kept, authorities believe he may have met with foul play. One of his associates was convicted of an unrelated crime and incarcerated sometime after 2001. Investigators hope the individual will give them clues as to Baker's whereabouts. His case remains unsolved.

January 9th, 2001, that's the last time anyone ever saw Chattanooga native Garrison Baker.

He was last seen near his Grandmother's house at 413 Derby Street. But this is not just a missing person's case. Detectives believe someone killed Garrison Baker.

Detective Joe Shaw of the Chattanooga Police Department says, "Everyone that was familiar with Mr. Baker pretty much assumed that he was deceased, because he hadn't been heard from for a year and a half. And then theories and rumors started surfacing. A lot of those indicated that he was actually murdered."

When Garrison Baker disappeared, the case was not reported to police for a year and a half. Baker's wife thought his mother had reported him missing, and the mother thought his wife reported him missing. Baker was also known to move around a lot, and never stayed in one place very long

The human bones excavated Wednesday in East Chattanooga hit one family hard. Linda Battle came back to the Arlington Avenue scene and said through tears, "I loved my son and you just don't throw him in no back yard, somebody going down for this."

Battle's son is Garrison Baker. He went missing about nine years ago. Police confirm a missing person case led them here, but will not confirm which one. Dating back to Friday, investigators have not wavered.

On Wednesday, Captain Tim Carroll said, "We have made contact with the mother of that missing person and told them the same thing I'm telling you. Until we verify it, we don't know who this person is."

Acting on several tips, Chattanooga police checked a site at 553 Arlington Avenue in June of 2010. They used ground-penetrating radar and archaeological techniques to uncover skeletal remains. DNA testing conducted at the University of Tennessee Anthropology Center confirmed the remains were that of Garrison Baker.

RIP. At least the family can have a service and a place to visit him.
