"In what police describe as a "miracle," a 2-year-old boy survived on cat food for up to six days on his own and was found Thursday after his mother died in their home.

Sacramento
In what police describe as a "miracle," a 2-year-old boy survived on cat food for up to six days on his own and was found Thursday after his mother died in their home.
The child — whom Sacramento County Child Protective Services (CPS) identified as Noah — and his mother were discovered after police forced their way into the home, officials said. A CPS worker had gone to check on the family because the mother suffered from chronic illness. No one answered the door, but the worker heard the child crying inside and called 911.
Police believe the mother had been dead for up to six days and the boy had been eating cat food and other items to survive. The boy is undergoing medical tests and was placed in protective custody."

Oh that poor baby, so sad for him to be all alone with his mommy like that. :(

omg :eek::(
That poor, poor baby.
May his mommy rest in peace.
May he be raised in a loving, safe home.

How tragic ... may God bless this young lad. No other family members ... relatives, interested neighbors, friends ... how sad for both that they were alone.

Peace

How sad! Why did this mother not have someone staying with her if her illness was so chronic? Why was this baby still with a terminally ill parent with no one there to help?

How tragic and sad.
My son is 2 and I cannot imagine him in that situation.

I hope a loving family adopts this poor baby. :(

This is local, and there was a follow up story yesterday. He is currently staying with his grandparents. His mother was diabetic and had gone into kidney failure. She was getting dialysis regularly, but I don't think she was aware that she might go so suddenly. Everyone says that she was an excellent mother and she was devoted to her baby. The CPS worker had been to the house the week before and found that the house was clean and there was food and the boy semed very well cared for. Thanks heavens she made a follow up visit and found him when she did. Also thanks heavens that it has not been as hot as it normally can be at this time of year. To think of him alone in that hot, little house, OMG what a horrible outcome could have happened.

Thank you Shadow!

It is good to hear the baby is being well cared for.
