Boy fractures skull after hit by ball at Cubs game

CHICAGO (AP)Doctors and family members say a 7-year-old boy who fractured his skull when he was struck by a foul ball at Wrigley Field was recovering and expected to live.

Dominic DiAngi of suburban Frankfort was sitting behind the Cubs dugout Thursday afternoon during a game between the Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds when a foul ball off the bat of Cubs pitcher Ted Lilly struck him in the head

Poor little Dominic. Ted Lilly must have felt just awful. When I was in primary school they forced us to play basketball. I was always told by the teacher "Keely, don't run away from the ball!". Well when something resembling an orange cannonball is headed right at me I'm gonna run. Guess I was right. A basketball is much bigger than a baseball. And yes, I was always picked last in team sports.

The article says that this is the first major league game that he ever attended. How unfortunate. I hope that he has a full recovery. I wonder where they were sitting. He is very lucky that he didn't die as I'm sure that foul balls have some force behind them.

Hopefully, he will get a visit from the Cubs' team members and get some souvenirs. I wonder how long he'll be hospitalized.

I've seen someone get hit by a baseball at a B league game.
It's unbelievable how fast the ball goes.
Hope this little boy has a full recovery.
And a lifetime of free tickets.

Before the game (Saturday), the Cubs collected signed memorabilia to give to a 7-year-old boy who was struck in the head by Ted Lillys foul ball Thursday. The boy, Dominic DiAngi, fractured his skull and is recovering, but was in serious condition at a local hospital. Lilly said he was going to try and visit him Saturday.
