A German pensioner whose dentures were thrown into a bin by a cruise ship steward is suing the travel company, claiming the action left him speechless and barely able to eat for two weeks.

The 68-year-old pensioner has told the court the loss of his false teeth a week into his three-week Mediterranean cruise ruined the rest of his trip.

The court heard he had put his false teeth in a paper towel on the sink in his cabin.

Not realising what it was, a steward threw it in the bin.
