This is an off shoot of NAMUS-ME's from around the country have been loading their UID's into this database so that it can run against the missing person's databases in 2009. For our purposes now, it is a great resource for those who are looking for specific missing people-for example I located some skeletal remains in GA and AL that appeared to be part of the same body while I was looking for Monica Bowie. I sent the links to the two reports to the ME who is now processing DNA on the two to see if they are the same person...

any idea as to when the general public might have access to NAMUS?

it still appears as "under construction" when I try to search MPs as a member of the general public, without a login name.

Here is an article that discusses the launch of the NamUs database-one for missing persons and one for UID's. The idea is starting now in 2009, the databases will run against one another and spit out potential matches....rendering Websleuther's obsolete...jk!!!!!

"NIJ’s goal is to have the two NamUs databases — missing persons and unidentified human remains — simultaneously search against each other for matches by 2009."
