Victim and Witness Advocacy for Peoria

The Victim/Witness Advocacy Program has been established to provide social services to violent crime victims and witnesses. An advocate is available to assist with difficulties which may arise as the result of victimization. The Peoria Police Department recognizes that victims are often the key people involved with the solution of a crime and that the Criminal Justice System is dependent upon the aid of victims to hold the criminal accountable. Therefore, the Victim/Witness Advocate Program ensures that victims and witnesses are treated with fairness, compassion and dignity throughout all aspects of the Criminal Justice System.

Resources for Chicago area crime victims
Simply knowing that the perpetrator of a crime has been detained is not often enough for victims, who may require financial assistance and other vital services. Fortunately the State of Illinois provides several targeted resources for the victims of crime, summarized below:
Crime Victim Compensation Program
The Illinois Crime Victim Compensation Program can provide innocent victims and their families with up to $27,000 in financial assistance for expenses accrued as a result of a violent crime.
